Exterior In first look it looks like a compact SUV but definetly stylish

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The moment you sit inside you will feel its the maruti dzire.from steering to dashboard everything is DZIRED.But the comfort level is much better specially for first and second row seating. And the best part is that you can create space in second row which is not possible in anyother SUV/MUV. So you dont have to depend on front seat for extra leg room

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox When you look at the specs on paper definetly it feels underpowered in comparison to XYLO and mighty INNOVA.but when you drive it it doesnt feel so.As in terms of BHP its same as XYLO with better engine in terms of maintenance and life. And almost double mileage then INNOVA.Gearbox is smooth like other maruti diesel engines.

      Ride Quality & Handling NA

      Final Words NA

Areas of improvement Better luggage space can be expected.with improved suspension and few modern features like arm rest for front seat, better dashboard, parking sensors.

fuel efficiency, flexible seating, exterior looks, driving pleasure3rd row seating, boot space

Suzuki did its best to attract by pricing the entry level version at a low price but the middle version of the diesel variant ends up costing nearly Rs.10lakhs (on-road Hyd) and the mileage is less than 10kmpl!!! Instead, I would prefer purchasing an entry level diesel-variant Safari at the same cost and enjoy more leg room, luggage space, safety, and big SUV look at the same mileage! After driving it for a month or so, many would regret for purchaisng this vehicle instead of starting variants in Tata Safari, Xylo, Tavera, etc.

Exterior When you first see the Ertiga from outside, it looks big from some angles and small from others. As you sit in it, you will not get to feel that you are in an MUV, to get into this car you don’t have to climb as in a Qualis, nor do you have to slide in as in an Accord. Actually its almost level of the average height of people.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) All Swift owners will feel familiar at the steering. The dashboard is identical except for the colour. The Swift has black interiors while the Ertiga has beige. Due to the light colour and high roof, Ertiga has an airy feeling. When you sit in the second row, you can adjust the seat like one adjusts the front seats. They go back and forth and they can be reclined as well. The 60:40 ratio of the middle row works well most of the time. As a five seater, it is very spacious because you can pull the seats completely back which creates as much legroom as the Innova. However if there are six or seven people then the second row passengers have to squeeze in a bit so as to create space for the third row passengers. The headroom at the back is good for a person shorter than 170 cm (5’8”) but for taller people with every small bump on the road your head hits the roof. The legspace and kneeroom is good for a 170 cm (5’8”) tall person. The middle row passengers however have ample legspace, kneeroom and headroom even with people sitting at the back. If there are more than five passengers then the bootspace is minimal. Only two to three small bags can fit. However if there are five or fewer passengers then after folding the third row, there is enough space for five to six big bags.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Seeing the rise in fuel prices, Maruti has given great importance to the fuel efficiency of the Ertiga. The mileage on the highway with occasional traffic with air conditioner is 20 kmpl. On a normal day in Delhi traffic it gives 16-17 with the AC on. In June with temperatures touching 50 degrees Celsius, it gives almost 15 kmpl. In winters the average is 17-18 kmpl. Few hatchbacks succeed to touch that feat. The car is powered by a 1.2 litre Diesel engine. This engine has been borrowed from the Swift, but surprisingly it works very well on the Ertiga which is bigger than the Swift. It produces a maximum power of 89 Bhp at 4000 rpm. Maximum torque is 200 Nm at 4000 rpm. Till the 2000 rpm mark, the car feels pretty uneventful but if you push the throttle thereafter, you are pushed back into your seat, and this pull continues till 4500 rpm.

Ride Quality & Handling The car feels very stable at high speeds. You feel confident going into the turns. There is minimal body roll due to the stiff suspension. It absorbs the city potholes well but you do feel them.

Final Words Ertiga may not be as spacious as the Innova, nor as good looking as the Ecosport, but if you come to think of it do you really need all this. If there are less than five passengers then it is as spacious as the Innova, how often will you carry more than 5 people in your car? Innova is almost double the price of the Ertiga. Do you want to spend 8 lakh rupees for the occasional third row passengers? Coming to the Ecosport, Ertiga has much more space than the Ecosport, can seat 7 people if required, the average Ertiga is double of that of the Ecosport. If you talk about features, yes Ecosport does have Bluetooth connectivity, but can’t you just wire your phone with the stereo, then it will do the exact same functions. The Ecosport is also a little expensive than the Ertiga. So Ertiga is one of the most practical and value for money cars in the country. The price at which it is offered is the cheapest in its segment. You also get the unfailingly great Maruti Service. Model to go for: VDi. Because it is 70,000 rupees cheaper than the top model and the only differences are steering mounted controls, height adjustable seat and alloy wheels.

Areas of improvement The third row seating really needs improvement. They are very cramped.

Great Fuel Economy, Decent Space, Car-like FeelCramped third row, Uneventful till 2000 rpm

I bought Ertiga VDI 1.5 months back in Delhi. Have driven it mostly in city, been on highways once.

It gives great mileage, 15-18 in city and 20 kmpl on Highways. Great exteriors and interiors. family just loves it. Good thing about Ertiga is that people compare this with Innova which is 4-5 lac costlier !!. it may not be as powerful as Innova or more specious at back, but it scores on mileage and compactness. so, obviously Maruti has come up with a Winner and this surely will creat new market within MUV/SuV.

Having driven Petrol vehicles till now, Ertiga VDI at times feel a bit underpowered. the engine is only 1280 cc, so one does feel it lacks that extra pickup needed in city traffic conditions. But things comes with a price. where it defintely scores above any other MuV/SuV is the mileage. Imagine driving on highways and it gives 20 kmpl. we have driven Ertiga with 6 adults and 4 kids ( yes, everyone fit it nicely ! ) and it was a comfortable ride.

Overall, great mileage and great value for money..

I was looking for a family car with occasional drives on highways with a low cost of maintenance. My options were the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio. However, after considering the following factors I narrowed down to Ertiga: 1) Buying Experience : Maruti showroom treated us very well and gave us the freedom to think and make a decision. Their extra efforts in trying to get a car in the colour we wanted to see before purchase was just great. 2) Driving : The only issue that I have about the Ertiga is its drive. It's not very powerful and I have to rev the gears frequently to get a good amount of power. The problem increases when the car is full. The mileage is good though and as a passenger, I feel comfortable even on bumpy roads. 3) Exteriors and Interiors look and feels: While there is a lot of hard plastic inside, the interior still seems good looking. The AC vents are very typical Maruti style but fit in very well. The doors and windows are very large and I love how they add to the spacious feel. The third row isn't very large but the second row can easily fit in 3 adults. 4) Servicing and Maintenance: This is the best in owning a Maruti car. So simple everything is along with affordable. Scheduled maintenance was available and this helped in giving my car a refreshed look and feel. Also parts are easily available at affordable rates, which is a big bonus. 5) Overall : For a big family MPV, Ertiga fits in really well if you cannot afford the bigger one such as Innova. Just the drive might be a issue, but if you aren't very keen on the driving pleasure, I think it's a great buy.

Exterior Exterior is very good. Looks like mini innova. Front looks like car and on the side looks like SUV.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) 5 adults and 2 grown up kids can travel without any discomfort. The spare tyre is positioned on the bottom of rear side. Decent  luggage space even without folding the thrid row. My daughter is a tennis player..and she has matches one in the morning and another in the afternoon. Therefore, between that time she needs good rest. I shall fold both the second and the third row. Which makes the car more like a mini room. We shall sit inside with A/C on and enjoy our meal. After which she can sleep with leg streatched. More than space it is the flexibility which makes this car quite attractive. You can simply shift your entire house using this car. Interior is stylish and I liked it. OVRM is very smooth. It has all the features of any luxury car. Good value for money.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy. With city and highway --I am getting 17.5 Km/L. Online milage indicator helps us to drive with good fuel economy. This car is not for racing. However, at greater than 2000 rpm. The pulling power is very good. I frequenly travelled between chennai and bangalore at 120 Km/h speed. I didn't find any vibration. I couldn't sense the speed. But in city traffic. You have to be patient with this car. The pickup is not so good.

Ride Quality & Handling I didn't find any difference between driving Ertiga and any other car. It s quite smooth and with good manevoribility.

Final Words For the price tag it is good value for money. The equivalent cars of this size is Fort Eco sport, and Reanult Duster. They are priced around 2-4 lacs more than ertiga.

Areas of improvement Engine capacity may be increased. Torque may be improved. Price can be reduced further to make it a monopoly in this price range.

Seating capacity, interiors and exteriorsAcceleration not that good

      • Very high servicing and maintenance cost regular 7-9k and every alternat sevice 2ill cose 14-16 k
      • Extremlely poor quality driving experience post 30,000 kilometers- Loud engine noise, hard clutch(have already changed it once with 45,000 kms), most pathetic quality of tyres I have ever seen...
      • In order to deliver a MUV experience under this price tag Maruti have comprosied significantly on the overall quality and safety of Ertiga VDI
      • Rood light cap/cover fell off itself
      • Have experience the fuel economy of 17-18 intially but once you reach beyond 45,000 kms it will reduced upto 13-14 per kilometer..
      • Rear side mirrors are so delicate that if even just hit lightly by anything while passing, its lock will be broken and you will be forced to boy new mirrors even through there is no significant damage to rear side mirrors

I have really been a very loyal customers of Maruti and have driven, Maruti 800, Alto and Swift in the past.. but now onwards will make sure that I never buy any Maruti product

Exterior Ertiga in the rear view mirror looks like a small car, it is shorter than a Tata Manza but you fold the third row of seats and you have so much space behind! The secret is the spacing of wheels, the overhang in front of the front wheels and behind the rear wheels are very less, resulting in a longer wheel base and a bigger flat bed to play with for the designer in filling with seating & luggage space.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Ertiga's NVH is excellent, a diesel engine after it runs in for over 10000km becomes even smoother.  Even within a single trip, once the engine is warmer as per design temperature, the vibration levels go down.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Acceleration above 2000 rpm is amazing but you feel at loss at lower rpms to pick up speed. Fuel economy is amazing, after clocking 1000km I have an average of 18+kpl, which for a car of Ertiga's size and weight is one of the best possible.

Ride Quality & Handling I used to own a Santro Xing, compared to that, the suspensions for a bigger car Ertiga, could have been improved.  Suspension is not up to the mark.  You cannot cruise across road humps as in an Innova.  Else, ride is comfortable even in the last row of seats.

Final Words A perfect car for a family of 5+ in city and around.

Areas of improvement Lowering of the spare tyre, very cumbersome, the screw disengages and the whole tyre frame with tyre falls down on the ground.  A simple spring loaded frame or a hydraulic arm lowering the spare tyre frame slowly would be sufficient.

      Provision for CD/DVD storage etc...

Best Seating Options- Fold the 3rd row, spread a mattress behind. Good fuel economyA little tweaking could have improved frontal looks

I purchased my VDI on 7th sept 2012.Got instant delivery without waiting from AAA vehicleades Malviya Nagar , Delhi.  Delivery experience wasn't  pleasing at all, infact  very bad. My car's PDI wasn't done nicely and other things, but i must say it is a very good buy.

Exterior Overall the car has excellent exterior look, Looks simillar to Innova . Easy to drive as it is less broad, similar to swift in broadness. outside view from drivers seat is good, though reversing is a problem without the rear view camera. This could have been a standard option.turning is good. overall exteriors are great.

Front crash safety seems a little concern as if headlights are removed there is little strength for safety. like safety bars etc. The paint quality could have been better, Fog lights doesn't seem to be much effective at night. Cleaning of the car's roof is a problem :) have to climb on door's sides.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior colour combination is great and impressive. though quality at door handles(plastic) is a bit poor as the joints are visible and seems to be opening at places. seats are comfortable ,drivers seat with hight adjustment and lumbar support is missing in vdi model.Drivers arm rest which is a must is missing. side mirrors should have been self folding.though for my family rear seating is good as well as it is mostly used by kids, so leg spacingisnot a problem too.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good, with good pickup, milage has improved in city driving from 7 km/ltr to 13.5 km/ltr . as i drove only in city traffic. company claims it will drastically improve after first service. There is hardly any space in engine compartment for mechanic to work, as it is very tightly packed.Air conditioner is very effective. double ac does good work.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is very good.Suspension seems to be strong. Peace of mind as spares are mostly of swift and sx4 , so avalibility wont be a problem.

Final Words Great car. happy to own one, i preffer self driving, for that purpose it is a great car to move in city too. less width is the plus point than innova which is more broad and good only for taxi driving.

Areas of improvement DRIVERS ARM REST MISSING.SHOULDBE STANDARD AS THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A LONG DRIVE FAMILY CAR

Rear sensor should be standard with camera in rear view mirror like verna and other cars.

Reversing is a realproblem without rear camera. Also foldable side mirrors should be standard.

Front crash safety should be enhanced, with safety bars.

Last row seats should be folding and hanging like innova as that is a better option for space in the rear.

PLEASE SOMEBODY ANSWER THESE 2 QUERY

What is the cost of first service at 1000 km?

what precautions shouldbe taken while driving first 1000 km sothat we get the best mileage?

Ground clearance, fuel economy, The brand maruti suzuki, swift and sx4 spares mostly-easy avalibiliDrivers seat arm rest, usb location in vdi model absurd, reverse camera should be standard feature.

Exterior I would rate looks as above average. Still feel better than xylo, scorpio or even Duster. It gives the feel of both MUV and sedan

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Nice interior. Maruti has taken care of small things like, arm rest, cup holders at the rear seat. Its really required to keep things. Nice music sytem, good sound quality.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox No engine noise. Pick-up is very good after 2000 RPM. smooth gearbox

Ride Quality & Handling I have mostly driven in city and I found it nice in riding. Drove high way for once, It has good road presence.

Final Words Its true value for money for big family. 5 adsults and 3 children can sit comfortably. gives ample boot space if you fold 3rd row. No problems with boot space.

Areas of improvement Maruti should improve the front view. Most of the maryti cars looks same from front, Also Maruti should include defogger and rear wipers in VDI/ VXI models.

Space, driving comfort, powerful AC, fuel economyDidn't find any
