No doubt its superb to stare at, can be easily called as the Greek god of automobile's world.. numerous facility to compete with Chevrolet spark santro and i10..But as the rumors speeded like a wild fire that its around 2.90-4 lacks and is mainly targeted to the middle-class people but its just the fake and deceiving way to attract the public and to make them a fool out of it...people waited and wasted their valuable time searching reading for this long awaited grand desired car, but ultimately people is turning their backs when getting to know the price tag of it...maybe best deal for the higher model 1 but not at all worthy of 3.47k for the 1st model, its better that people should go for Chevrolet spark which has renovated its 1st model's price unto great extend and that also with 3yrs warranty, more than 14kms per liters(not at all bad) and its really a good small and a trendy smart car with a sport look...price of the 1st model of a-star just wont attack many buyers.. wearas i know few govt employees who too were genuinely targeting this car waiting for its launch and thinking its competitive spirit and the taking the price value as its ideal deal and concern. maruti should take this price of the 1st model in concern otherwise it wont work out. People need something, which is added with the insurance and tax together not just the value of the car, which is beyond the reach of all. Long awaited of the people doesn’t mean become crazy for it and jumping in the well blindfolded that also in the time of inflation and nano, i20 and spark making its huge way out for 1year. I spoke out on behalf of all those who targeted to buy astar but ultimately changing their mind and also few government employees and of course as I too changed my decision from buying this. I had driven A -Star for about 600 kms from Pune to Aurangabad and return. Here are my reviews.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Interiors are quite spacious for placing your daily objects, rear leg space is less, good thigh support at back seat. No clutch foot rest means long drive will be tiresome., small rear wind screen. Driver seat is quite comfortable, but misses the height adjuster. Driving position is quite ok.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

New K series engine, is doing good job in A-Star, lags punch in 4th gear. 2nd and 3rd gear ratio is quite good and overtaking is easier in these gears, but if u want to overtake in 4th or 5 th really K -series is lagging behind its competitors. K-Series respond well once engine  RPM touches 3500 mark. till then u will feel the same old engine maruti car. 

Ride Quality & Handling

Handling is good at high speed, suspension is very responsive, Steering is quite hard. For front seaters ride is good. Initall pick up is good but in 3rd and 4th gear engine lacs the punch.

Final Words

If anyone wants a change from Alto or 800 then go for A-Star. Not really VFM, as Maruti has priced this in competition with I10, the value they are offering with this car should be 50K less.

Areas of improvement  

Accelerator pedal is very hard, clutch foot rest, change the 3rd and 4th gear ratio.

Exterior Took the car for a test drive today (Gaurda showroom, Lalbhag Road, Bangloare). There are 3 variants, LXI, VXI and ZXI. Last one with airbag and ABS. I think for most VXI would do Now, what’s good about the car Good looks.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox very calm and smooth, i got 16.5 kmph(with ac) in city conditions and 19 kmph in haiways.

Final Words Extraordinary ride quality and smooth handling while in city traffic also.

Exterior Good design, as these days a lot of cars when viewed from each angle it has a disadvantage. For A star one may think that the rear window is too small. But one way or the other for other cars too. some disadvantage is there in the look.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The performance of the engne for this cost is extremely good, i did a test drive in a highway, its too good, While you shift between the gears 1,2,3,4,5. its smooth. While brakes are applied, it stops smoothly. I also drove above 90 and I did not feel any shake ( in hyundai eon the gear will shake and in car vibration).

Ride Quality & Handling The front leg space is too good. According to me I would say that buying maruti suzuki which always HAS THE BEST RESALE value and that too A Star for this amount is good. Handling the car is too good, I also test drived as if there is a traffic jam. Riding in very less speed in 2nd gear. Its good, the engine is not turning off.

Final Words Good value for MONEY and as always MARUTI SUZUKI is the BEST.

Areas of improvement Front fog lights for VXI.

I have been driving MARUTIs since around 10 years now started with 800,OMNI & at last WAGON R and was happy being a MARUTI customer but ever since I had tried sedan likes of ACCENT & ESTEEM, only thing which was hurting me was Power transmission, than I got chance to drive an old zen it also had a superb & smoothe gear box. So, I was quite sure of having new ZEN Estilo but to my surprise new ZEn estilo has a very poor and hard gear box,

So with lots of fight between mu mind and heart at last I have decided my self on i10 but to my mercy MARUTI has launched ASTAR,

And what a star it has been. Power transmission is as smooth as any of the sedan. Milage of 19.6 kmpl,pick up is like wrooom and price tag is also in good range with MuSic System.

This is new bonanza from Maruti.

They have proved themselves over the years in this country. Now from 800 to A-Start it is surely a big leap forward.

During this recession phase when all leading car manufacturers are suffering with reduced sales and net loss, Maruti is still flourishing due to their innovative thinking and knowing what customer needs.

A-Star in specific meets most of the aspirations of the young generation, providing contemporary styling, betting technology for engine performance(1.0L ->67 BHP), and good mileage even in city drive!

This particular car meets most of the expectation of the middle class small families, such as easy to maneuver is city traffic, easy parking, and excellent service network.

I must say that A-Star is going to lead the small car segment for 2009-10, despite of the fact that some more arrivals are on way like small car from Honda, Toyota, Fiat, and off cource Tata Nano.

In simple words this product is value for money and a best buy in small segment.

being market leader in quality, efficiency, economy, after service I - no - we - all our family  like MAruti brand.

I am using maruti 800 non ac since 1999 , and am fully satisfied in almost all the front except in one aspect - the safelty belt is let loose without any system to recoil or coil when you dont use/ use.

I infact intimated the same to MARUTI but alas no response from them- that is a  bad remark indeed. otherwise my car sofar is giving good milage  and i spend less on maintenance - all the best MARUTI

Very good in overall style. Extremely comfortable inside for the driver. ABS is very good. Performance/pick up in second gear is pethetic.

Both Side Rear View Mirrors don't cover enough side view. Inside Rear View Mirror does not have night vision and therefore bad at night. CD Player without remote. Digital gauge for fuel indication is not good as it needs to be turned off and back on again to get the right reading after refueling. Side hand rest for the driver not there. Trunk is useless.

I  checked this car , and have sat in the driver and the rear seat.

The rear seat is comfortable for people like me with average height of 5.8. But if  you are tall. then you will have difficulty during long drives

There is not enough space in the trunk for keeping enough luggage.The height of the trunk is more so you need to lift your luggage more before keeping it in the car.

Looks wise it is good and performance is alwways been with Maruti
