My family people were very comfortable with this car and last jan'11 only we gone to Shabarimalai around 1800 km's in this and we are not got any problems and comfortably we done our journey. we are staying in bangalore and every month we will go 2 times to andhra that also we feel comfortable and the maintenance is very low same as my two wheeler.if we compare this car with any other car rate wise mileage wise this car is better than others. i got lot of offers for my car but still i am mainting this and never sold this vehicle at any time and the only suggestion don't give this type of cars to any body ( Friends, Relatives ) because i have bad experience with my friend he drunked and banged. So keep for your self and your family members and all the best for your rides.

      Safe Journey.

Comfortable, great Mileage, low maintenanceno heater, no power stearing

Exterior The exterior is okay for such a low priced car and it sure incorporates the required basic safety features in its exterior body like having sturdy crash barsand the design is also okay considering the fact that once upon a time this was only one of the few cars available in this country and the car is really sturdy for such a little fellow.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) While the interior is cramped, considering the price its okay if you are going to use it only for going to office and back and for such routine purposes and it sure seats four people in comfort.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine performs excellently with excellent handling ,good fuel economy and is ideal in the crowded streets and with their extensive service network any emergency situations regarding engine performance can be taken care for.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent handling in city roads but ofcourse not useful in potholed roads and since its a small car the handling is almost akin to power steering.

Final Words A ideal car for personal use and day to day usage as a individual usage with in your city or town limits.

Areas of improvement Well guess can't be improved considering the cost and it is felt that for areas of improvement one could go for the other models of maruti like alto, wagon R, etc.

It gives a very good mileage , easy of handling in crowded city roads and easy to park.well the space is not enough but it is okay while you are going to use for routine every day purpose

      Exterior

Its really cute and india's most loved car. Due to small hatch, we Can park easily.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

It is very besic but what can you expect in a tiny budgeted car.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Very good engine. Gear shifting is very good than indica.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Ride is good for small tours upto 100km. Once I travelled from pune to Miraj, but I didn't feel uncomfortable at both and front seats. Leg room is sufficient for ana average indian.

      Final Words.

I own a used Maruti 800 ex 5 speed before a month. It was of 2001 and drove 98000km on odo. I had done some repair work of gearbox overhaul and some bushing and bearings. I drove it for 1200km in a month. And I am satisfy on my decision to by secondhand maruti. I am happy with its fifth gear. It feels like a big size car. overall its a lottery for me.

      Areas of improvement

Tyre size should be little big like alto. And ground cleareance for 5 speed is less than 4 speed for driving on speed bereakers, we have to drive it very carefully.

Fuel economy, cheap spares, can repair by roadside mechanic.Basic interiors, light weight, safetty issues in case of accident.

Cannot blame any body, as it was the most beautiful looking car when it was launched, however with the passage of time it has begun to show it's age. I have been using the car for 10 Years, and has been in some of the most inhospitable places in India, My car has never let me down. Apart from Oil Change and filters change / Cleaning i never had any problems (Even Minor) with the car. The only drawback is the rear leg space, however this is nothing compared to the overall performance of the car. I drive from Ratnagiri to Mumbai (350Kms over the Ghats) nearly twice every month and every day to office. The confidence that this car gives me is appaling. All basic things are there in the car and I dont feel any additional features are required on this entry level car.

A good car for the city, and even long drives. I still get 26KMS to a litre. need anything more??? I ont think so. Even as on date I recommend the M-800 to any one who asks me about my opinion for a small car.

Now after 10 years, I shall be going for a SX4 ZXi, hope it stands by the maruti quality and gives me a trouble free service just like my 800.

Good Fuel Economy, Does not Fail any whereStyling, Pick up gets bad with AC On

I drove the 5 speed MPFI M800, which was discontinued by MS for unkwown reasons, maybe eating up Alto's space.

Lookwise, both exterior and interior are outdated. The plastics look ordinary, the Dashboard has very basic functions-lacks an RPM board.

Why M800 rules the road now is its fuel efficiency. It gives around 15-16 in the city and 20-22 in the highway. Running costs are also low.

It has not given much trouble. The AC puts a big strain on the engine, performance takes a backseat with the AC on, but that is expected from a 800cc. Although on the highways, driving with AC did not pull down performace.

Because of it's small size, parking is not a big issue. Can fit in most places in India. However, it may be bit toosmall, with people struggling to find some space at the rear seats for leg room and space.

The Rear splits were a good addition, and the boot space was good enough to fit in a few luggage boxes.

Excellent Fuel Economy, Low running costs, Small, hence no parking issuesbit crampy, looks outdated, AC puts a strain on the engine.

This was a CAR that rules the indian hearts .I accep that ,My owns one and he loves it ..But hey wats the catch ..It was launced 26 years ago ...

affordability and cars are two different things ,if u want a basic ride to cover distance go for it .u will be content ...But how many of us are willing to do it ...we want something more ...this car is now like a retired person to whom we shd give standing ovation ..

This car looks so weak in front of the bmws and the mercs..Its sad it still on the roads ..it will loose its value and the person driving it will loose his status too.

If u can spend 2 lacs for a maruthi u can ofcourse spend another lac atleast wait untill u can but please dont buy the maruthi ..

      its now OBSELETE

It was my dream that oneday I have a four-wheeler, but I don't much aware that which brand can fulfill my dezire. I heared from my colleague and friends that only one company can fulfill my requirements and that is Maruti. and then I bought Maruti 800. This was my first car and I had amazing experience as hear earlier from so many people.

Zero Maintenance Car..... Which is easily afforded by any Human Being. Perfect 10.

Everthing is fine about the car except the inner console. its not very decorative and also the space. Its uncomfortable for a lanky person while sitting in car. Besides these two things its a very economical car in its class having almost negligible maintenance cost. Spare parts are not so costly and are easily available everywhere. Talking about the A.C in the car. So it has 800 cc engine which is not so compatable for the AC. It is a good balanced car having good road clearence factor.

Loved by an every Indian b'coz of its fuel economy and lowest cost. Its very economical in terms of mileage, gives you around 18-20 km/l on a long drive and around 15-18 km/l within the city. Best suited for evry kind of road in India. The system(in terms of tecnicalities) within the car is very simple, one can easily understands and recitify the problems immediately by himself/herself. So not a problemmatic car.

Every thing about the car especially engineInner console

Value for money car. I'm. Owing it since 12 years. No repairs till date. Just regular servicing. But there is no comfort at all. Too hard steering. Difficult to drive this car. Mileage is good. Around 18 in city. Built quality is awesome. Except for comfort I like my car. Thanks for reading my review.
