    DRIVING:
    Its my mate since ages
This is my first car & when I bought I 10 used to be an icon for the hatchback entry-level cars. It was most sought after. The looks, styling, ease of driving, comfort and overall elegance made the car so popular among all budget buyers. I have driven about 80000 Kms in the last 9 years - and found it very special. The overall performance has been satisfying- it is so easy to drive car & can perform both within and out the city. The AC performance is superb. Quality of materials used are premium & long-lasting. The chrome designs haven't faded in these long 9 -10 years. They still look that shiny. The driving is phenomenal with a light steering and very smooth gear box with pointed and short throws. The ergonomical positioning of the gear is also worth mentioning here. Little maneuvering with this car in busy roads is so satisfying ;-). However, since the car is with me for a long time, the list of issues that I have faced is not short either! The common complaint with I 10 has been the very low mileage for a entry level small hatch back car. The highway mileage with AC on is 14 kmpl (with less gear shifting & at a constant speed of 70 to 80 kmpH), City driving with AC on 10- 11 Kmpl (with normal traffic); City with Heavy traffic AC on (7 to 9 Kmpl). Without AC highway driving - 17 kmpl. So ARAI mileage claims 20.36 Kmpl by Hyundai was completely incorrect & misleading. Now this figures are important because the VENUE 1.2 Petrol uses the same engine VTVT petrol 1.2 L, and mind it the mileage won't be better what I have mentioned here for new Venue car also. The clutch pedal tend to wear out faster and clutch turn very hard. I had to replace the entire clutch assembly after the warranty was over. Had to replace all the four tires around 45000 km. The service costs are more - roughly I had to cough up around 5000 to 6000 rupees every time I visited the service centre. If you are a keen driver while driving you may genuinely feel lag in lower RPMs & its difficult to overtake unless you downshift the gear to increase revolution. The third gear is the most powerful of the lot - second gear power is disappointing. Over the time the steering wheel and front suspension show looseness and I had to go for a replacement of the suspensions. Overall, there are few good and few drawbacks to sharing - and most of these may be applicable to the new models like Grand I 10 and Nios also.
