Volvo S60 vs Nissan Teana [2007-2014]

The bookings for the new-gen Volvo S60 sedan will begin in the new year followed by its impending launch in our country. This next-gen model builds on the strengths of the second-generation of the S60 that was discontinued in India last year. We've already told you about our first impressions of the car through its first drive review, and here we shall tell you five positives and two negatives of the sedan in its latest avatar.

Nissan has been successful with its cars worldwide but the company hasn’t quite been that successful in the Indian market as yet. This Japanese manufacturer is now quite serious, what with the iconic 370Z to the Micra and hopes to bite into a sizeable portion of the Indian car market. Nissan along with Renault, has made some large investments in their Indian manufacturing plant based just outside of Chennai and will soon launch its most important car for the company in India – the Nissan Micra. The newer updated Teana and the X-Trail were launched last year and now with the 370Z and the GT-R (given to Narain Karthikeyan), Nissan sure is kicking up a lot of dust!

This new-generation Volvo S60 has come in after a long gap with the discontinuation of its second-gen. The carmaker has sort of made up for this delay, as this next-gen sedan gets a major overhaul in its latest avatar. It might not be an attention magnet, but it’s a big step up from its older design. Yet, it’s very much in line with other Volvo models and gets a spacious cabin for four that’s packed with so much of new tech. And, with a sorted ride and suspension for our road conditions, it’s quite hassle-free as well. Also, it would have been good to have a diesel option for great mile-munching capabilities. Still, this petrol engine-gearbox is adequate enough for the most part. We still think Volvo might surprise us with a wider selection of engines upon its launch in March 2021.
