The previous generation Skoda Superb which was launched in 2009 in India was a big hit. Not only it felt luxurious but thanks to its humongous size it had enough knee room to embarrass many ultra-lavish limousines. Although it had every attribute to make it a phenomenal sedan, one thing it lacked was premium exterior. Its odd proportions made it look like purpose over finesse. The stretched profile, stubby boot and tiny wheels didn’t cut with some people who were paying more than Rs 20 lakh for their luxury sedan.

Skoda’s Superb needs no introduction. A quick way to summarise its legacy would be to say that it was the reason behind some cars exiting the segment. Superior packaging with brilliant performance and mechanicals to match, saw this car win a number of followers.

When Skoda showed off the 2016 Superb for the first time at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the carmaker called it the “best Skoda ever” and if you ask us, that is a big statement to make. However, one look at the tech specs of this new model is all it takes to digest Skoda’s bold statement. The 2016 Superb, in fact, is not only bigger and more luxurious than the outgoing model, it is also considerably lighter and expectedly, more efficient as well.
