I own a Chevrolet Beat Diesel and when I completed around 12000 Kms, the alternator of my car stopped working. My daughter was stuck at 11 PM in the middle of the road and when I got there and called GM & my authorized dealer/service station (Auto Vikas, Moti Nagar) for help, I got a BIG NOTHING! All I was given was the number of a crane operator who said he will reach me in 2 HOURS. So I booked a crane operator on my own. Even then I was calm and I had no big issues with either GM or Auto Vikas.

  Then my car went for service, it took them 3 DAYS TO FIX IT. Even then I thought it's okay.   But when I drove the car, I found the front headlight (right) indicator bulb missing, which is just next to the battery. My son went and told Auto Vikas about it, and they just wouldn't accept their fault. So when he shouted out loud about this, then the serviceman got some random bulb to put there.  Then when I give them a bill of towing of Rs 2000, Auto Vikas people tell me that I will only get Rs 1000 as my claim. Then I again have to shout at them to make them accept the bill and give me a receiving. Since then its been over a week and I have not got the claim of Rs 2000 yet. I called up auto vikas and they say it'll take over a MONTH.    Is this how the well known american brand functions? You think anyone who faces this would refer anyone to buy any of GM's product?   This incident did MAKE MY HEART SKIP A FEW BEATS! PATHETIC AFTER-SALES SERVICE!

 Exterior is really sueprb, specially the 2-door feel that it gives you by hiding the rear door handle up the window.The LS model doesn't provide body-coloured OVRMs, but its still excellent.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

 The first and foremost thing I would like to say about interiors is that there is a heaven and hell difference between the LS and LT model's dashboard. The LT has a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l- dashboard that consists of the audio system and A/C controls which glows brilliantly and let me tell you friends, that is definitely, definitely worth going for LT instead of LS.But, but, but.....along with that superbly designed glowy interiror comes a p-a-t-h-e-t-i-c audio system that sinply sucks. And the worst part is, its not optional. If u buy LT, you HAVE to take the audio syatem home. Otherwise, the glowy show of the dashboard is gone.

A/C is fine, and interiors are also spacy, though not very spacy.The sporty speedometer and digital RPM and FUEL indiactor are one of the main attractions of this car that gives it a superb sporty look.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Very, Very Important: This car has an odd rumming sound in its engine. I enquired repeatedly to the showroom guys, and also asked one of my friends who is in a senior position in Chevrolet Manufacturing deptt, and all of them told me that the sound has ben deliberately introduced in the car to give it a sports car feel. So for people who like a quiet car, this car is a strict no-no. On the other hand, if the engine sound pumps your adrenaline, then this car IS FOR YOU.

Fuel economy is around 11-12, which is decent and gearbox is a little stiff, particularly the 5th gear, which is a real pain to find.

Ride Quality & Handling

Car is super smooth, can't sense ignition is on from inisde when its not moving. Pick up is ok, though not a dream, and handling is fine. All in all 6/10 in handling.

Final Words

 This car caters to a very specific class of people who are fond of sports car and/or is tired of Maruti's and Hyundai's. Its a good buy but not meant to be kept for 7-8 years. Enjoy it for 2-3 years, sell it off.

 Gear shift can be smoother, pick up can be better, interior of LS can be made better.

 Good exteriors with curvy edges makes it a sport car(especially in red colour).Good suspension & excellent headlights.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

 Ample amount of space to make you freely move inside.highly comfortable in terms of seating,leg space is good,car roof is not low either.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Powerful noise less engine actaully you will not even hear the engine sound ,gear shift is smooth,on fuel economy  it would be too early to comment(driven only 300 Km) but yes definetely its going to improve from 12km/lit(in city) after 1st servicing.

Ride Quality & Handling

 Has powerful AC & ride is comfortable.

Final Words

 The features available in this car at this price tag is power packed making this a good budget car. Everything is well designed and you'll find a small space be it on front pannel dash board,near gear shift, at door to keep your small items like coins, mobile etc. Seats are comfortable.

 Dash board can be made more lucrative.

Exterior Most of my family meber were not liking looks of beat, but I was in favour. I was looking a car in budget of around 4lac or max'm 4.5 lac but same time also in favour of diesel due to my expected running per day.So except indica I could not thing anything else but same time such pathatic car like indica...never. I test drive new beat diesel..got impressed in every department it is not crammed car at all.Look are very modern and contemparary.head lamp well design.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) front seat is better than other hatch in same category.rear is bit less but comfortable again.boot space is less than what other offering but for me it was not issue.60:40 split of rear seat was good option to compansate this.Interiors and plastic qualities are fantastic..much better than ritz and figo.music system looks good and descent sound out put.Gear work very smoothly.didn't find any problem in gear shift.Electronic pwr steering work so smooth n light that feel awesome. ground clearance good. shocker are good..work very well and give comfortable feeling on rough patches.I do not find cloustrphic feeling in rear seat.AC with climate controll ...very good. Hight adustable steering again good option.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I knew engine is small...surprisingly work very well...I do not find inadequate power..although I have not tried beyond 105km/hr.engine is very silent. my friend find it very silent and do noy believe diesel engine can be so silent and smooth...very good engineering. inside cabin hardly any noise appreciable.Gear box equally matched with engine performance.I have not driven adequately to comment upon fuel economy..I will be able to comment after some time.

Ride Quality & Handling I have drive Ritz/Swift/Indica but again I would say riding and handling is evenly matched with Ritz and swift..Swift has ebtter prformance..due to larger engine.

Fuel economy..so far I have driven 300km..18.5kmpl with Ac on more than 90% time.

Final Words It looks like small..but not small from inside.For small family and who mostly drive in city. think very good alternative option for I10/Ritz.

Areas of improvement Reduce price atleast 20 thousand of LT model or give ABS atleast with this price.Increase boot space.

 I will say excellent....the silver finish on the steering and the Cruze type interiors are really different and sporty....

 I ve not driven it in a long distance ...still i felt it as quiet diecent one...with 80 bhp from a 1200 cc engine and 18.6 ARAi certified mileage... Note that the earlier U VA was having 14.9 kms only...So its seems excellent..

Final Words_Its a fantastic car to buy i think.... When its diesel comes in the future it will be more attractive.... Interiors, safety fetures, styling , the innovative automatic climate control and rear door handle are giving this car a distinctive personality to this car....... I will surely buy one in the near future.

A cool look, interiors styling, auto ac, safety features...of course price...Eventhough its a different styling... we can see a Ritz or A Star in it

Exterior The car looks fabulous from outside, if not the best car in its segment in terms of looks.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior looks classy, especially its green back-lit digital console and sound system. There can't be any complaint on comfort too and the cabin too is silent as sound of the engine doesn't reach. With auto-climate control, this is perhaps the only car in its segment to offer such comforts. Interiors have been perfectly mated to its sleek and sporty looks of outside.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy is very good -- delivering a decent mileage of around 20 kmpl in city driving and 25 in highways (22 kmpl average). Gearbox too is smooth, though with 3-cylinder and 936 cc engine one gets to feel the lack of power while trying to rev up the car with the AC on.

Ride Quality & Handling There can't be two opinions in ride quality too and it handles potholes fairly well. Have driven it at 130 kmph too and there was no problem in handling at great speed

Final Words The car's perhaps worst enemy is within under its bonnet. Despite its looks and feature-laden interiors, its engine is its biggest undoing as its very troublesome. Having driven 34,000 km in two years, the car's been a big headache as I've had to frequent servicing centres every two months on an average with one or the other problems. Consider these: during the last two years its high pressure pump had been replaced twice, oil separator replaced twice, turbo replaced once and now piston rings are set to be replaced due to low compression. And each time the car enters the servicing centre for a major problem, it's not before at least 7/8 days that it's delivered. Have heard similar complaints from other Beat LT Diesel owners too. The car leaves the impression that its engine is of very inferior quality. 

Areas of improvement Engine needs to be drastically improved if it really want to be a runaway success. While the feature-laden car is cool, its engine is a big let-down. With its troublesome diesel engine, many would very well prefer its competitors like Ford Figo or Maruti Swift, not to talk of Hyunday Grand I10 and Toyota Etios Liva.

Car exterior look geat,very sporty style,i select this at first sight,body paint is good,look like two door car,stylish & bright headlamp with integrated indicators,

 feel like big car,very spacious,side mirrors adjustable from inside is good,bootspace is good.AC is good & fast cooling. 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

 engine is very smooth & powerful also,excelent pick-up,gear is not smooth but ok,fuel economy is not good,its about 10-12 kmpl.engine is not response as 1.2l while AC is ON mode.

Ride Quality & Handling

 ride quality is the best than others,handling the car is superb,the front view is not comfortable for short height peoples.adjustable driver  seat is good.I feel very happy to own this car.

Final Words

 Very good car in its class,Actually price is also low comparatively other cars.sporty design,smooth & powerful engine,smooth gear shifting,spacios interior,integrated rear door handels,powerful headlamps,power steering,power window,etc....    .

 Need to focus on the engine response while AC is on & milage.

 The features available in this car at this price tag is I can say impossible in any make of car of this budget. Everything is well designed and you'll find a small small space be it ot front pannel dash board,near gear shift, at door to keep your small items like coins, mobile etc. Seats are comfortable to go for long drive. .

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

 Just completed a long tour (560KM ) with 100% AC on & got mileage of 16.5+ km/lit before 1st servicing. I'm sure it'll increase after 1 or 2 servicing and after some kms driving. Gera shiftinh is smooth

 Ride quality and handling is quite good. tested in full ghat(sharp turning curves) road

Final Words

 Dont think, just fo for it. You'll never get this much value for money in any car now available in the market.

Exterior Quite stylish to go for. Have seen Zen Estilo VXi ABS,Swift ZXi,Ritz ZXi,i20 Asta,Beat LT Option Pack and Spark LT for which car with rear wiper and ABS and AirBags.The i20,my favourite,is the best equipped but too pricey.The Swift too,is one of the winners but rear space isn't good.And even I have heard horror stories of Maruti Suzuki s' terrible mileage.Ritz,being a Maruti,had better mileage as it is the 1st BS IV hatch but its odd shaped boot was too small.Spark was good but same as the new Beat,it had a small boot but unlike the Beat it had plasticky interiors.The Figo and Beat are the best cars but Figo s' old-school design didn't appeal to me.Beat is the winner atleast.    

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior gets 10 marks because of the blue lightings.Features more than Hyundai i20 or Skoda Fabia.Boot space can be improved but overall it is a comfortable vehicle.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Like all Chevrolets,it has the best engine performance.Fuel economy is great.Gearbox good.Can be Beat gets LT AT OPTION PACK.  

 

Ride Quality & Handling Ride good for highways.Cause getting a hatch,go for Beat.Handling fine otherwise. 

 

Final Words 3rd hatch of Chevrolet.If you have a saloon like Honda Accord of Chevrolet Cruze or Optra,use them for boot space.Has to be Car of the Year 2011 and also Small Car of the Year 2011.Figo won't be Car of the Year 2011.Beat is one of the most powerful car in class and has best style in class.Atleast,Chevrolet has hit the sweet spot.   

 

Areas of improvement Boot space can be better and also performance.
