I bought the limited edition after a lot of research. It's real value for money with leather upholstery, fog lamps, alloy wheels, adjustable steering column and a 6 speaker stereo system. Have driven around 600 kms so far in Delhi. The looks, posh interiors, smooth engine and the ride comfort makes one really feel good. Choose it in comparison to Honda city, which I found a little over priced.

The higher ground clearance, strong pulling power coupled with 94 HP engine makes it ideal for Indian roads. On the technical side the crumple zones, the location of radiator cap on the top-up tank and the key less entry to the rear boot lets you know that it was a thoughtful design.

The mileage after 7000 kms of running in NCR region is around 11.5 km / ltr.

Good style, Posh interiors, smooth engineGear shifting not smooth

I was looking for a car in the budget of 7-9 lacs on road hence had 4/5 clear options.....Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna, SX4 and Chevrolet Aveo. My primary requirement in addition to a confortable interior was Fuel economy since I travel almost 100-120 kms a day.

After much deliberations, I finally decided to purchase a Chevy Aveo in March 2008. This was certainly an excellent choice. The Car looks heavy & masculine. The drive is too smooth. The interiors are plush. AC cooling is class...even the passenger on the rear seat start feeling the cool immediately.

I was very happy to drive my car but over a period of time, started realising that it has already started hitting my pocket. With a mileage of around 10 km per litre, it has become a 'challenge' to drive the car. (This is much below the promised mileage)

I reported this issue to the Showroom on my first reassurence service (1000km), when I was duly informed that this will improve after the first service at 5000km. Now I have already driven 7000+ km and the first service is also over....the fuel economy story remains the same. I had even spoken to a Chevy Executive in Delhi, who very promptly arranged a 'Mileage Check-up" for my car....however nobody turned up from the local dealer (Mumbai) on the fixed up date (In fact I had to compromise on many other commitments only to ensure that the car gets checked up)

So...to all the prospective buyers, I leave the question to selecting this car...as open ended.

Good Style; Good leg-room; Stable even at high speed; Fun to drive; InteriorsPoor Fuel economy; Low power

      Exterior

I purchased Aveo 1.4 LT ABS, Light Gold from Pashankar Auto Wheels, Pune on Jan 20, 2010. The on road price with cash less ownership of 3 years was 7.39 Lakh.Got mud flaps, mats and filming free. The car is fully loaded. I have driven it few tens of Km so far and I will update my review regularly. The dealer experience was good and car was delivered with special ceromany. I am expecting better ASS from PAWPL.

      Car has aggresive exteriors.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Aveo has excellent interiors and good comfort. It has enough space to accommodate five (not too healthy) persons. It has all the features which are available in this segment. Lather upholstery give rich feel.Music system is sexy and ac is cool. Car is loaded with lot of  useful features

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Engine is adequately powered and gear ratios are kept proper to deliver enough power with moderate fuel economy. Engine is nose free and quite. Gear shifting is smooth.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Suspensions are good and ride quality is okay.

      Final Words

I have not yet tested all the features, which I will update soon.Although the car is thrill car, I would recommend it for those who want a good family car.

      Areas of improvement

Spare wheel is not alloy, no co passengers air bag, Music system has no USB drive

Great exteriors,Excellent interiors, speciousnone as of now

My parents bought an Aveo 1.4 LS Limited Edition in July 2007 after trying out several cars like Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, Maruti SX4 and  Honda City ZX. Every one of those cars is  good in its own right. It would not be prudent to say that Aveo is an out-and-out winner in the class. However, if you are looking for an all-rounder with VFM (value for money), Aveo it is.

My  parents live in Kochi and I visit them 3-4 times a year. I look forward to each visit not the least for the chance to drive the Aveo. By now, I have driven it around 6 times totalling probably around 400 km of mostly city driving and one longish drive to Guruvayoor Temple, about 100km north of Kochi.

A summary of  my impression of Aveo follows:

      Observer's Impression

      • The Limited Edition 1.4 LS comes with several additional external and internal add-ons like 14" alloy wheels, fog lamps, a rear spoiler, all-round skirtings, a fin (a la BMW) towards the rear of the roof, chrome grip-type handles, leather upholstry, Keyless Entry etc. These extras completely change the look of the Aveo sedan giving it a very sleek, racy silhoutte
      • On the inside, the instrument cluster is very futuristic - there are three cylindrical chrome-tipped holes holding the speedo, tacho and other displays. The Red lights on the indicators add spunk to the cockpit-like dashboard

      Score: 4.5/5

      Driver's Impression

      • The drivers seat is a good place to be inside the Aveo. The seats are comfortable enough, the steering wheel is chunky and good to hold on to. The general ergonomics are good with all knobs and switches withing easy reach.
      • Turn on the engine and you need to look at the tacho to confirm if the engine is alive - noise levels are very low inside the cabin
      • Switch to first gear and start your drive and you realize that it is a little slow off the block
      • Try shifting to higher gears as you pick up speed and you feel the gears could be smoother and could fall into the slots in a better manner. But no major problems here, you realize this limitation while comparing it to Fiesta's and City's slick gear shifts.
      • The engine is a quiet performer rather than a racy, hot-blooded teen like in the Fiesta. But the 1.4 liter 4-pot is above average in power (94 bhp) and torque (127 Nm) and delivers reasonable mileage too (consistent 11kmpl is what I hear)
      • I did not try any acrobatics like cornering at high speeds, but the control over the car was generally good.
      • I was not very impressed with the brakes as it felt a little too soft at first, but this is something you get used to after a while and can take precautions when situations warrant sudden deceleration

      Score: 4/5

      Passenger's Impression

      • Rear seat is even more comfortable than the driver's seat in the Aveo. Leg-room and shoulder space are ample and thigh support also passes muster
      • The A/C is outstanding - even in the hot and humid climes of tropical Kerala summer, the insides of the car was kept at a consistently low temperature.
      • The ride quality is superb. Rough roads are no hassles for this car. The high ground clearance of 180mm also helps tackle crater-sized pot-holes and triangle-shaped speed governers!!

      Score: 4.5/5

      Epilogue

In the Limited Edition avatar the Aveo 1.4 looks stunning. The alloys, the spoiler, the skirts and the fin all conjure up an image of a sleek, mean machine. Alas, it does not drive as well as it looks if you have genes similar to a certain Michael Schumaker, but for the comon middle-class Indian, the Aveo makes a serious lot of sense.

      Overall Score: 4.25/5

last few months i was looking for a three box car to replace my old maruti. I travel around 2000 kms every month in city so for me car milage was a major consideration with my budget constrain 0f 6 lakhs to max of 7.

first i thought of diesel cars but have all my life driven petrol and realy don’t want to go for diesel
as you can allways convert your car from petrol to cng which will be cheaper than diesel in terms of fuel, maintanece and will only add 40 k max to your budget for the kit and your warranty also stays.

In my middle class car buget i have ford,sx4 ,aveoAnd esteem.

Ford and esteem are out going models so scraped the idea there itself.

SX4 zxi is good with all the gizmos but has a long waiting period and low on mileage .

then i got to see the aveo limited edition. and was swept from my feet.

got a good deal from shiva motors in sahibabad.

My experience with the car is as under

the movement you open the door you are spellbound.with the rich interiors.
      - Leather Seats
      - Double din MP3 cd player steals the show(realy a good one with six speakers)
      - Alloys wheels with tube less (stepney dosen’t have a alloy)
      - Keyless entry with anti theft .
      - Gear lock
      - Engine is very quite noise dose not come inside the cabin but when you press it it roars and you love every bit of it.
      - Suspention is superb.
      - Driver seat hight adjustment comes handy. body A pillers are thick and block your view in hill driveing.
      - Gear-shift has been improved a lot .(know due to my friends who owns this car gave me this feed back)
      - Boot is large,
      - Mileage - 13 - 14 kmpl in city driving conditions, with  A/C on

the only diffrence with SX4 was the abs and airbag , but u get better mileage .and no waiting period.

Have driven the car for 1700 kms and realy satisfied with the car...

      will  keep updating ....

Completed around 3500 kms and getting a constant average of 13-13.5 with 20% ac.

went to agra for a day and mileage i got was 15.7 for the entire trip .very luxury styling, good fuel economy.music system without remote

I bouught a Chevrolet Aveo 1.4 LS Special Edition vehicle on 15 May 2008. Myself, wife and our two boys (24 and 21 years of age) set off to Mookambika temple from Trivandrum. There was enough space esp. legroom for all of us to sit comfortably throughout the journey. I drove the whole 1600 km of the trip and enjoyed it throughout. Airconditioning was superb and did not affect the momntum of the car considerably. I clocked 13 kmpl on an average. Mind you, Kerala highways are not something you can write home about. I noticed some problems while driving. One was that the dashboard was too close for comfort. To take your eyes off the road and focus on the dashboard to make any reading took around 5-10 secs. Distance between the dashboard and the front glass panel was nearly 2 ft. The horn is placed right in the middle of the steering wheel and in India survival without use of the horn is difficult. To reach the horn to honk it takes time. If a horn can be provided near to the outer periphery, it would have been superb. The best thing about Aveo was the superb interior design and comfort which made value for the money spent. Overall we enjoyed the trip throughout. Today it has gone for its first servicing.beautiful design, got 13kmpl on highways, interiors superb, dashboard looks like an aircraft cockpitseatbelt makes rattling noise esp. on bumpy roads, focusing on dashboard needs heavy eye adjustment

I own an Aveo 1.4 LS since Dec '06. My longest journey was from Hyderabad to Vizag and back. It was a great pelasure I had. The thing which annoys me most is the reverse gear, It makes the most irritating of nocies even the clucthc is pressed to the limit. Mileage in traffic ondition with AC on is around 8.5 kmpl.

Interriois/exteriors are great, pleasure to drive, noiceless. great to own.

Exterior Very stylish. Luxury sedan at very good price. Muscular looks. Chrome front grill. Wider tyres..few years back when i saw this car,,i thought its price ll be near 10 lakhs.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Too good for the price, quality of plastic, interior, driving comfrt. best. once more am telling for the price.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Upto the mark. am satisfied, but dont expect too much. for decent driving it is a good car. am getting 17 km/lt on hw. with 50% ac. for sedan its very good miliage. I have covered 1200 km. going for first service.

Ride Quality & Handling Good but not the best may be becuz my  car is LS model with lack of abs.

Final Word Over all value for money. The frontline dealer of udupi with team shiv prasad, anup, rakesh and all are best. am very very satsfied with thier work. Thanks once again..plz donot compare with fiesta honda city.or verna they all come at higher segment. You can compare with manza indigo or accent.

      Areas of improvement Nothing.

      Hi All,

Well, it is a known fact Aveo gives a low mileage compared to its Peers. However, I believe it is not that low as I heard Dzire gives around 12km/ltr in the city whereas Aveo stands at 9.5km/ltr to 11km/Ltr depending on the way one drives the car.

I am a very recent owner of this car, got the delivery in the month of April 2011 and paid around Rs 5.90 lac on road + Rs 17K for 3 years maintenance. I had made thorough search on the facts of this car and knew it gives low mileage however, I had following factors which attracted me to this car:
Interiors – Excellent in its segment. In fact I would say compare it with any car in its segment it will beat it.
Driving – Of course this is not a driver’s car (as it is higher ride height compared to lower ride height Zen) however it gives you a feel of comfort, better grip on road, insulated cabin (cuts you off from traffic noise) and luxurious driving.
Exteriors – Exteriors are better than Swift Dzire, Accent (pretty old for the roads now), Verito, Indigo etc. However, I would not say it can really beat Etios in looks, though some might have different opinion.
Low Maintenance – Even though I have bought 3 years maintenance pack I heard from my friend (he bought this car 2 years ago) the maintenance cost is very low.
All of the above is my personal experience and I believe if anybody who wishes to buy this car should not have Fuel efficiency, Peppy engine, Pick up and lower height ride as the priority. The best way to invest your hard earned money on the car is take a test drive, make best use of internet and check owner’s experience.

Final Words This is a good buy in case one wishes to have luxurious feel of high end sedans. I would rate it 3 and half Star.

Areas of improvement Fuel efficiency and Pick up.

      Thanks.

Exterior Exterior is ok bought a factory installed spoiler and some rain sheilds, installed after market mud guards. The Body is an overall nice looking car depending on your taste of boxy or not so boxy models.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Wow there is not much room for anything yeah it seats 5 but not comfortably at all. Drvier space is really tiny whole car is practically a death trap one good wreck and everyone would be toast. No room for upgrading either car seat covers forget it due to the seat installed airbags. Not much room to shift comfortably if you have front seat pasenger. Back seats are cramped if you taller than 5' 5".

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox FUEL ECONOMY WHATS THAT??? Your talking more like 16-23 miles a gallon MAX 26 miles a gallon. Seriously less than 3 months after i bought this it was recalled due to faulty fuel injection adjusting valves. Gearbox What is this some high tech motorcycle transmission seriously has clutch problems really jerky shifting, like i said not much room for shifting either. Want an aftermarket shifter or boot forget it unless you want to seriously tweek your interior. OVERALL ENGINE PERFORMANCE VERY UNSATISFIED!!!

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality? Well if you like to feel every little pebble and rock you ride over and hear the highway wind noise this is definately your car. Suspension really sucks bumpy riding car. hear your tires bounce radio has to be at atleast 20 to hear it over the road noise.

Final Words DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PILE OF CRAP!!!! Ever heard that song by Adam Sandler about his car he must ve bought a chevy Aveo. I was also wondering how much it actually cost to make one of these? $4k-$5k maxx and how long to assemble 2-3 hours?

Areas of improvement IMPROVEMENTS OH I GOT PLENTY!!! Better soundproofing, Smoother riding struts and shocks, less bubbly interior panels for improved room, maybe put a two stroke engine in there so you will actually get 26/34 city/highway miles maybe even a three stroke, more interchangable parts i.e. shifter boot, shift knob, stereos, seat covers, i could go on and on about how i wasted away $15k but honestly ill go out a few thousand more next time and buy a better car maybe the FORD focus or Dodge Calliber.

not many pros.Gas mileage SUCKS!. Powertrain Sucks!. Suspesion sucks!!OVER ALL NOT WORTH A FRASTION OF THE $$
