Maruti A-Star - What A Revolution!

This is what Maruti has kept under wraps and when unveiled, there was much fanfare that happened around it, and boy this thing look hot! This is how a small car should look like – brutally attractive. It has that in-yer-face element that I am yet to see on any other small car. True, there are cars that are more beautiful, like the Fiat Bravo, but the sheer raw appeal of this car cannot be matched by many.
The A-Star is all about brutality, to me. It is all about looks. Brutal looks. Take the headlamps for instance, they appear to be like an angry elephant’s droopy eyes. How cool is that! The imposing grille with translucent crossmember looks menacing. And then is the airdam which is rounded off by the stylish and sharp fog lamps. How on earth can anyone mistake this car for anything else! The teardrop roofline, the muscular wheel arches and that eccentric rear view mirror all add to the sense of dynamism. As mad as the front end of the car is, the rear does is equally so. It is simple, without frills but aggressive still. The sharp-edged tail lamps are mounted high up not only to accentuate the bold ‘S’ badge but also to enhance safety by making it highly visible. The rear diffuser has integrated exhaust pipes to complete the picture.
Calling it interior will be a shame. The insides of the A-Star can give many a fighter aircrafts quite a complex. The pink illumination on the dashboard looks like the jet’s wings and the air con vents at either ends appear to be the aircraft’s engines! The stubby gear lever shouts ‘sporty’ all over the place as do the aluminum pedals. There is not much to say about the cockpit, for I am spellbound.
And now the clincher – a car based very much on this might see the light of the day sometime soon and might even come to India and the global launch of this compact car at Auto Expo in Delhi hints at just that. The A-Star or a car based on it will be a front-wheel drive, front engines machine which will be powered by a 3-cylinder, 1.0L engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Really a good one concept. It will definitely hold the small car indian marcket. But company should also think for the indians who can not afford the costlier petrol. So diesel engine should also be incorporate. Rest all is fine.

Hi,
This is what I was looking in a car. The leek finish with an aggresive look. The interiors are really cool. I think we will get a feeling a sitting on our sofa even when we are in bumper to bumper traffic. But, I am worried about two things.
1. Mileage- All ready the petrol is hiking at an alarming rate. Just 1 year back it was around Rs 40/ltr and now it has crossed 50.
2. Pricing - I am ready to pay even 4 lacs but not beyond that instead I would go for a luxury car.
I appreciate the designer of this car, I have read an article about him aswell. Even I wanted to become like that guy but unfortunately or fortunately I am in a different field. Weldone ……

The wait is over and what we saw on the websites about the Astar concept car and what is launched today are almost completely different…Theywanted to make a mighty horse but that has turned out to be a lame mule….thats what all i can say…just see the concept car, its just awesome, i dont think many will disagree…but now the astar that is launched has got sick looks, the heaad lights are changed, the tail lamps are just normal, the interiors are not at all unique and the shape is ridiculous…Maruti has disappointed everybodys expectations but launching such a “high on expectations” and “low on results” car. It should be a miracle if this car is a hit in India

I’m a proud owner of Maruti’s A-star.First me and my wife got lured by the expressive eyes and funky styling of the A-star.A-star has a cheeky rear end. I picked the ice cool blue shade.But i had a doubt,though the car is small,can i park it in our small garage.The steering is ultra smooth and even my wife who learned driving recentlyparked it comfortably. I tested the engine on the highway and believeme it put even some sedans to shame with its impressiveperformance. A-Star is the modern face of suzuki, its dash looks different enough to make you feel good. Maruti Suzuki has used a duo-tone grey combination that makes it much better for our eyes.
