      Exterior

      - Beats all cars in this category (<4 L) hands down - Looks are just awesome

      - A Head turner, especially the dark colors - You can notice people talking about the "practicality" of owning this small wonder

      - Classy European compact car looks with the grill & curves

      - I got a Sun Roof done from the showroom - adds to style, and allows my kid to search for the moon while I am concentrating on the road

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

      - Very spacious for a car of this category

      - Rear passengers too have ample leg room

      - Hatch allows you to pack in 4 backpacks or 1 to 2 cabin bags

      - Finish is good, Tata is showing signs of "rub off" of it's global brands now

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

      - Engine is low powered (Honestly, who cares!, given the stop & go traffic in Bangalore??, I have seend people in 2.5 Ltr cars struggle to park them, take them out of the parallel park lots, while I am already 1 km away after getting out of the squeezed place)

      - I have driven it for about 600 Kms in the last 30 days - That is the love you fall into with AMT. Given it is still warly days, Fuel Efficiency is not something to comment on. Although, I get a feel that AMT will land you somewhere in the 18+ Range.

      - This car is for the practical, take it easy type fellow - not for the 4000 RPMer, who talks and breathes Bhp or Torque. Please note, that this car is an easy goer - even when you floor it, it will take its own sweet time to "calculate the down shift". So - you need to get used to it - press the pedal, half way on the speed breaker, and by the time the rear wheel is off, the car is ready to respond. A Lag of about 1.5-2 seconds for that shooting speed needed. Those used to an always on "turbo" will be left high n dry.

      - Brakes - All Drum. I feel rear discs should have been provided, given it's rear load. Brakes give you th eold "maruti 800" feeling and you are always keeping a safe distance. Something not to worry  - given that this is primarily a city car. If you want to highway throttle it, It is at your own risk.

      - Gearbox: Top gear is 5th, that engages past 65/70. For an uphill start, it is recommended to use hand brakes, since the car is on a underpowered engine.

      - Auto Creep Feature: Best part for stop n go traffic of Any Metro city. Leave the brake, and the car begins to roll - no need to alternate between accelerator & brake.

      - Enging cooling radiator comes to the front grill - Thus oveheating issues have been taken care of now.

      Ride Quality & Handling

      - Ride Quality : Smooth, well balanced, small - so - speed bumps feel a bit too short.

      - Handling: Can take a U turn whilst other car drivers are still planning their U turns :) - and off you go!

      - There is a "sport" mode, that basically does a gear shift @ about 10-15% higher RPMs, i dont use it.

      Final Words

      - Practical city car, has to be your ideal second car.

      - Not for the Highways

      - Highly recommended for those who live life "easy" - This car will give you that feel - just chill - Live and let live.

      - We compared this to Alto AMT, E2O - This one beats them all hands down especially for the price to value conscious fellow.

      - For the record, my other car is a Vista Qaudrajet. [ It is odd numbered too :) ]

      Areas of improvement

      - Disc Brakes

      - Plastic moulds, especially door opening knobs, and dash glove box - need to be more soft, sturdy & easy to operate

      - Driver seat height adjustement, Although this is limited due to battery sitting below it.

      - Seats are a bit upright, Bucket chairs would have been good - Although for short city rides, seats are ok.

Turning Radius, High Vantage Point, Maneuverability, Ground ClearanceSeats are rigid, Plastic moulds need more meat

      Exterior

One close look all it takes to fall in love with this litle beauty, its appears like an electric compact europian car from the behind and the grille finish adds icing to the cake. Fog lamps are very powerful and one can notice the car coming from a good distance. I own a Sangria red and I am sure a it attracts a lot of attention in a traffic signal (especially when I sqeeze through the left-over lane while other 1.2 litre avreage run-of-the-mills drivers are gaping with envious eye and struggling to move forward.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

TATA has done a fab work with the interiors, the baize contoured look and matte upholstrey adds further value for the money spend. Signature TATA steering wheel is very comfortable to hold and steer. I am a lazy driver and I love to rest my right ankle in the open window panel and still hold the steering while my other hand rests on the gear-shift and still can manage to have complete control over the car. So, 100 out of 100 here, folks. The Music system comes with bluetooth connectivity which can be easily paired with any android device, and its intuitive enough. The program starts the next song from even the CD player exactly where you left it last time and parked the vehicle. good music output - note it. Crystal clear bass and treblle, FM tuner can be a little pain at times, but who cares (the FM guys play less music these days and more of ads). Boot space is a namesake thing - it doesnt really adds much value being so small. But you can put ur regular car junkies there and may a few small bags.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

I must say I have had issue to get accoustomed with a 0.6 litre engine and a 4-speed-gearbox initially, coming from a 1.2 Litre background. But it does its bit, this engine is much refined from the earlier model and produces more torque - one can notice the difference in a traffic signal - it just zoomes ahead (till the other SUVs show-up ;-). Gearbox is a little harsh at times, but one can aviod it by well-lubricating the console from the service centre. Fuel economy is average for a small car and 18/19 kmpl in the city is what you should expect.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Poor shock absorbers, this is one big opportunity area and this car can be a pain in bumpy roads. If you stick to the city, I bet you will be the fastest Indian (in own segment) under any  traffic condition because the steering and gear response is awesone.

      Final Words

Complete value for money. I have used it in both city and highways (Pune to Lonavala via Mum-Pune E-way) and dont have any complaint. I have clocked 100 kmph speed and apart from the tyre noise there was no stability issue and performance issue.

      Areas of improvement

       Shock Absorbers

      Tyre noise

Recently bought Nano automatic. Although I have Figo and Ecosport automatic, Nano is my favorite for city drive. Nano story would be remembered in management books as greatest case study where an engineering marvel was made to fail by wrong marketing campaigns.

Entire focus of Nano marketing was on getting two wheeler users to upgrade to Nano. Why would they, when they can simply afford a bigger second hand car.

Nano is not best suited for first time car buyers as its suited for second car buyers.

There is no better car than Nano automatic in Indian market for city traffic conditions. I relish it every Day as it helps me save about 15 min on my 20km city traffic drive. But I feel sorry for Ratan Tata and other Nano engineers whose great efforts failed due to wrong product positioning by Nano marketing team. Here is what I love about Nano

      1. Small Width - Helps me squeeze through leftmost part of road and narrow road conditions due to illegal parking, people occupying multiple lanes to turn right on signal, metro work.

      2. Small length - Very easy to park in remaining space between a parked car and open gate where most bigger/longer cars can't fit. I call them exclusive Nano parking spots.

      3. Big Window - Tall seating and large windows make minimize visual obstructions while driving/riding. Feels like you are on bike but without the noise and pollution of road.

      4. Right pickup for city conditions - Nano automatic in sport mode has just the right pickup for city driving conditions which allows you to go into those open gaps between cars without making it too much where you need to immediately apply breaks.

      5. Good AC - AC is very powerful and even in peak Hyd summer, I can't keep it on max cool for too long as it gets very cold.

      6. Tall Seating- Tall seating is more comfortable, gives better view of the road and getting in and out is easy. I hate getting in and out of sedan and hatchbacks.

      7. Power Steering- Very light and easy to operate with one hand in traffic.

      8. Speakers- Good car speakers.

      9. No big bonnet- You have perfect judgement of road ahead, making it easy to move across lanes when you are stuck in traffic.

      10. High ground clearance- Those bad roads and rough side patches are no concern when driving nano due to its 180mm and short wheelbase.

      11. Sport mode- This is the mode for regular car driving. Economy is only for mileage fans. Some negatives.

      1. Car Bluetooth Microphone - Peaks up lot of noise and people on other side can't hear clearly. I use a portable bose speaker with microphone.

      2. Image - Thanks to Tata's Marketing geniuses, this car has so poor image that people feel it's weird to drive this car. I know people in Bangalore who want this comfort but buy Mahindra E2O over this car due to image issue.

      3. Don't make a turn in it at high speed, it may topple. I met a guy whose nano toppled during a steep turn on highway exit

Overall - If you already have a car / SUV etc but tired of driving it and looking for something in city driving conditions, look no further. There is no better alternative in market irrespective of how much you are ready pay. Best part is, most fantastic car for city driving is cheapest car to own as well.

      Some requests to Tata Motors:

      1. Please release new version with following features a. Better sound insulation b. Android auto & apple carplay (lift and shift from Nexon) like Renault did it. We should be able to take conf calls from car. c. Front hand rest.

      2. Fire your current marketing team and start a fresh marketing campaign focused on second car buyers who need car for city use. Focus on easy of parking and livability and how it's better than bigger cars instead of focusing on how it's better than bike. Work hard to improve image of car.

      3. Reduce the price by at-least 50k.

      4. Add reverse parking camera with dashcam as dealer side accessory. 3k worth of accessory makes it very useful.

      Exterior

Cute and pleasant design. Powerful headlights.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

XTA version comes fully loaded with AMT, power steering, bluetooth and USB. Even though car looks compact and tiny, it is more spacious from inside. There is enough leg room in the back row than anyother car in the hatch back segment.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Satisfactory Engine performance. Cant expect more from 624cc motor. AMT gearbox makes your life much easier while driving in city traffic.

      Ride Quality & Handling

So comfortable to drive in cities. Car has excellent ground clearence and best turning radius. You can easily take this to any roads where an auto rickshaw can go. For AMT till 2nd gear ride is bit bumpy afterwords it is just smooth. But i will not recommend Nano for a regular highway driver because of its lightweight and low crash survival rating at high speeds.

      Final Words

One of the best city car avilable in the Indian Market backed by excellent customer support from TATA and its partners. Service team is very friendly and technicians will come to your doorsteps and take the vehicle for service and repair at no additional cost. This is from my personal experience.

      Areas of improvement

I dont see anything while comparing the money we pay for the car. If at all something, I would like to see an electric version of Nano soon.

Auto Transmission, Turning Radius, Power S Ground Clearence, Leg room excellent customer serviceNothing to complain apart from slightly higher Engine Noise.

Exterior Like a toy car but quite effective for city drive and crowded roads.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Enough cabin spacend leg rooms at front and rear seat for 5 people. You can put a small bag under the front seat.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Effective pickup, best for city with 15-16 KMPL in city and 21-22 on highways. Gearbox is not so smooth and little noisy.

Ride Quality & Handling I love to drive my car even on highways, its comfortable. Turning radius is amazing, you can make a U-turn without any second thought even on single road. Superb music systems with latest features like BT connectivity for calls and streaming. AC in effective and serves the purpose. Steering is powerful and smooth. Seating is high and comfortable like SUV with excellent ground clearance.

Final words My family loves our car and enjoy the ride every time with comfort. Engine noise and vibration, boot lid opener should be internal or remote.

Cabin space, Effective AC, Music System, Smooth power steering, Fuel economy, Turning radius.Engine noise and vibration, less boot space, only 2 power window, boot opening with key only

Exterior It has good exterior. the bumpers are made of good material which even after touching by other cars on couple of occassions, regained its original status and never had to do any dentin- painting.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable interior. efficiency of AC of the car declined over the period of 1 & 1/2 years of use. After mentioning it to the workshop they cleaned the filter and AC started working effectively as erlier.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is excellent never had any problems while riding in ghats.

Fuel economy in city traffic of mumbai 13kmpl, on highways its about 20-23kmpl. Auto gears work smoothly in every occassion except traffic in acending ghat where it gave trouble on one occassion. where its gear malfunction lights on car console started to blink, but it disappered when traffic cleared and drove uninturrupted for half a km. but on same occassion i saw 10's of other new cars broken down on the left side of the ghat (khambatki - satara - maharashtra).

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is second to ford ikon that i used to drive, but it is better than other entry level cars that I drove.

Final Words Excellent machine that I bought from indian manufacturer and proud of such a accomplished product from tatas.

Areas of improvement Nothing to mention.

Exterior GenX nano really looks cute with smiley grill.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is good (with respect to cost), specious comfortable than Alto.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is quit small just solve the purpose, fuel economy is good, i have XT version equipped with 4 speed gear box. gearbox is smooth, no issues with gears.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality and handling is really nice upto 80 KMPH but above that you have compromise with the things😇.

Final Words Practical car for 3 occupant with good mileage and stability. recently i have covered 680 KM, Wardha to Pune in a single day without any heating issue😎, you will get tired but not car. And please dont expect 5+ lac cars features like ABS, airbags and bla bla bla in Nano Genx. Mileage in city in 19-20KMPL and 24+KMPL on highway with AC but note that above 90 KMPH she will results you 17KMPL also 😢. Just go through test ride to introspect your demand.

Areas of improvement Braking and horn should have to be improve😦.

Good mileage, powerful AC, specious, now good for highway alsoBraking and horn

Exterior Stylish looks complemented by clean, fuss free styling. Always brings a smile to one's face when one sees the vehicle.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent space management in proportion to overall vehicle size. Four people can seat comfortably. Very good air-conditioning performance. Cabin becomes an igloo in no time. For the money you get Central locking, Front fog lights, Front power windows, Electrically assisted power steering, Comprehensive Multi - Function display and trip computer featuring Instant Fuel Efficiency, Average Fuel Efficiency, Distance To Empty, Twin trip meters, Gearshift indicator and a Digital clock - All in a super compact yet wonderfully legible digital display. Music system is by Harmann and supports: Radio / CD / Mp3 / Aux - In / USB and Bluetooth streaming. Connecting your phone via Bluetooth is effortless.

The openable rear hatch offers much needed practicality and two to three medium sized soft bags can easily be acomodated. Boot space is no worse than the old Maruti 800.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is adequate. Needs 10 more horsepower to become an even better city car. The Automatic gearbox works fine under gentle throttle applications. Aggressive throttle inputs makes the gearbox fumble and the pause between upshifts and downshifts. Things improve markedly in "S" mode which can be activated by a small "S" button at the base of the gear selector lever.

Fuel economy is excellent. With continuous air conditioning in maddening city traffic, 17kmpl is a realistic achievement, consistently. On highways, 20 - 21kmpl is regularly achieved. The trick to highway cruising in a Nano is to build up velocity in a constant, linear manner and not to rush things. The NANO feels best crusing between 80 - 85 kmph on highways.

Ride Quality & Handling The suspension in the Gen X NANO is actually quite good keeping in mind the tiny wheels. The problem is the limited suspension travel. This is felt especially when the Nano hits a deep enough pothole and the short springs use up all the travel, especially at the front, and the result is a rather audible and annoying "thud" as the lower suspension arm hits the limit of its travel.

On city roads, minor road imperfections are soaked up well. However you cannot defy the laws of physics, hence the combination of a short wheelbase, small wheels and limited suspension travel will always find a way to jiggle your bones! :-)

Handling-wise, the NANO is incredibly nippy in the lanes and bylanes of the city. It's not a corner carver and neither does it pretend to be. High speed cornering sees copious amounts of body roll and the 135 - section front tyres soon lose the battle with adhesion, with the vehicle progressing into gentle understeer.

Final Words An excellent city car. Spacious, frugal, feature laden and a doddle to drive. Classic styling and a true blue "Made In India" product. The fact that an indian manufacturer had the guts to produce a product like the NANO speaks a lot - and one should feel proud - about Indian engineers and their ingenuity.

The NANO actually proved to be the wake up call for many Western Car manufacturers to relook into their vehicle development processes and create vehicles using many of the ideas incorporated in the NANO. Toyota Liva, Toyota Etios, Datsun Redi - GO, Renault's hugely successfuly KWID, all borrowed ideas from the NANO to achieve what they have achieved.

Areas of improvement Around 10 horsepower more, Better brakes, 13-inch wheels and slightly longer travel suspension.

Space, Economy, Manouverability, AC performance, Features for the price, LightsSnatchy gearshift action from AMT, Weak brakes, Power & Torque

I own Tata Nano. The car has ran 30,500 KMS till now.

I bought this car in Jan 2013.  I believed that the car's maintainence would be around Rs. 2000/- per yea, as informed by your sales team.

But to my suprise, the last service for the car costed Rs 13,523 /-

The following are the problems reported by concord service people, The head light got spoiled (very dim), Drive shaft is fautly, Break Cylinders leaking, Break Lining is faulty, Engine Bed is damaged, fog lamp is not working, car-horn is not working (for which I have been recommend to change the entire steering set),and the mileage was only 15 KM/Litre.

and the service people were to charge Rs 1500 more for checking the mileage of the car (which I didn't agree).

And even before that, AC not working (Gas leaked, problem with the condenser) ,

Clucth Plate got damaged (Totally gone), front glass is very dull and gives high glares during night. Power windows not working, speed-o-meter not working, and even the plastic containers given near the dashboard were not locking properly (poor quality plastics).

A car which had ran only 30,500 KMS till now has got so many wear and tear. A very poor quality product from tata. If you have sales targets for.

Your service team, I advice not to expolit your customers like this.

I bought this car after convincing my family members that it is a low maintenance pocket friendly car and it is from prestigious tata group.

Just the last year alone I spent nearly Rs.50,000/- on this car. Now, I am really ashamed to have bought this car. Its a very bad decision I had made.
