I bought Indica V2 Turbo DLS BS III in June 2006 – my 1st car.  I bought this car after having driven almost all small segment cars.  I have since driven 40K kms in 3 & half years. 60% on highway & 40% in city. I have always re-fueled the tank full and have measured the mileage each time.  The mileage I constantly get in city is 16.5-17.5 kmspl and on highways 21-22 kmspl (@ speed of 80/85 kmsph). It’s a very economical car - per KM cost in city works out between Rs.2.20 & on highway Rs.1.75.

The car is very spacious, comfortable & smooth running vehicle - I have undertaken long trips - driving upto 650-750 kms per day. The stability/road grip is fantastic and the AC is very effective.  Unlike non-turbo version of Indica, its pick-up is not sluggish even with AC on. The initial pick-up cannot be compared with that of a petrol car of its segment but later on it is as good.  The roll-on acceleration, as in all diesel cars, is very good.

It’s comfortable for city drive as well - though handling is not as easy as it is in WagonRs, Santros & the like.  Nevertheless, it is only a matter of getting used to it - especially as you don’t get to see an inch of bonnet (howsoever tall you may be).

It’s a very sturdy & safe car with a strong body.  The interiors are sufficiently good / more than good for the cost of the car (higher versions DLG/DLX have better interiors & more facilities).  The Turbo model has since been discontinued.  The engine is now used in Vista TDi with little more power & torque.

Fuel efficient, spacious & comfortable, sturdy & safeNothing as such, for the price it comes at

Look: The interiors is beggie, that usually comes in the Top end sedan models.Power window button has been planted near the gear handle, which adds good porsche look. Alike Marutis and Hyundais, the Gear shifting is smooth. Some people run worry about it shape.Trust me, if u put rear spoiler, alloy wheel gaurd, and some addtional beeding to the sides of car, you indica would get new look. Mileage: For people new to car, driving for first time, would easily see 9~10. Overall, getting a car with terrific interiors, spending additional money to add beauty to exterior is besdt option instead going for basic models under B class cars.Terrific Interiors,Value for Money, Solid body, various colors,ComfortSize of tyres doesn't matches its heavy body

My first new vehicle. INDICA DLG TC - Took delivery 15-Dec-2006. In the initial exploring stage, on the internet, I gauged that several service related issues/complaints existed on this vehicle. However, I learnt that backdoors, TATA has been working on the INDICA and I took the decision when my local garagewallah told me that the Turbo Diesel INDICA was a good choice. With a city running of almost 70 Kms daily, I think I have a winner on hands. Even compared to my old ESTEEM, I find the ride quality better, seating position more comfortable and the vehicle extremely responsive, where it matters. I did not find anything wrong with the gears or ride quality, however, the initial drag is something that you have to get accustomed to, if you are used to petrol cars. There is more than enough power and any discomfort in bumper traffic (as some people have put it) is just a matter of getting used to the vehicle. I am extremely happy with the interiors too as well as the hvac airconditioner. Some minor issues have come up like a problem with the glass movement in one of the power windows and a vibration sound at the rear (after I put the seat covers) probably because of the rear seat lock lever, but these are inherent issues with any new car and should be sorted out soon. Yes, there is a problem with service quality, however I have gauged this only from the initial response given by service staff from where i purchased the vehicle. TATA Motors may think of bringing out some radical changes in their service quality/personnel (mostly with the dealer network). Most practical choice for people looking for overall economyNothing that makes me worried, so far.

my new car. awesome. awesome. for the money i spent, its really the best i could get. more car per car for sure. for highway.. forget other small cars.. just wait for the chance to push the gas pedal and u r gone. gone a long way. the company provided seats are just great. nice to see an indian company competing in world class style. forget petrol cars. save on fuel. this is equal to any petrol car. mileage has not reduced for the extra 15ps added compared to the indica v2. spacious inside. sometimes i get confused if i am sitting in my accent. well..spacious cabin, mileage, power, economicnot really good for city driving

Purchased in:    Feb 2007 from M/s Autolinks, New Delhi

Kms clocked:     3000+ Kms till date (only in City)

      Version:               GLG

      Purchase Experience
Very Bad - TATA Dealers have earned an enviable reputation of not being friendly with their customers & they work overtime to retain the reputation. I’ve had my share of woes, whereby I was EDUCATED that CNG fitment is approved by TATA Motors and my warranty shall remain valid along with the warranty of Vehicle. I learnt, after my purchases that CNG for 1.2 L XETA has not even been approved by Delhi Transport Authority leave alone the TATA Motors warranty.

However, TATA Motors claims that this shall soon be sorted out & they are leaving no stone unturned to give their Customers CNG fitment facility (I’m not sure how many stones remain and whats the time-frame for turning all stones on right direction)

      Initial Cost of Ownership:
Excellent - which other company shall give you Car @ 3.23 Lacs on road in Delhi (including extended warranty, Road Tax, Insurance, Parking Charges and all other expenses with mud cover and floor mats for free)– given discount of Rs. 23,000/-with Power Steering, Front Power Windows, Central Lock, Rear defogger, bumper painted body etc. Whole lot of goodies at great price.

      Interiors & Comfort
Great – simply super, lots of space and beige colour interiors gives you feel of a BIG car, which is unmatched in this segment. Dashboard looks refreshing and boasts of better finish that ever before. Seating is perfect especially for long drives; you’ll never get tired feeling of driving this Car on long routes. Not to mention the freebies like Central Locking, Power Steering, Front power windows, rear defogger, Air Conditioner + Heater, body coloured bumpers etc. that comes along with this Version of Car.

However, there is a let down on the storage space aspect in the Vehicle, only on this account, the Car looks unpractical.

      Ride & Performance

Simply superb - Indica Xeta  is the answer to Delhi governments answer to mismanagement on roads including bad flexible roads,  potholes. She works like magic even in the traffic ridden Delhi with ease and have answers to all the problems that you might have driving on such roads. The ride is great with a few exceptions that Car drags a bit on lower speeds and often threatens to give you a rough feel, though it becomes more than perfect when driven on 30+ speeds.

Mileage with AC has been variable from lows of 11.2 to 12.5 Kmpl in City, which is pretty acceptable to me as an individual.

      Comparisons

I have owned Maruti 800 / Alto 1.1 / Santro Xing but this Vehicle is in different class of its own and by all stretch of imagination, this one wins THUMBS UP…

      Overall

Go buy it…hope u find better dealer that Autoli1. Space.... 2. Value for Money.... 3. Road Handling.... 4. Zing @ 40+ kmph speedsPurchase Experience / Dealer Handling (M/s Autolonks, New Delhi).... Drive at low speeds.... Pickup

Took the delivery of Xeta 1403cc on november 2006. Performance is too good. Good pickup and noiseless engine. Though the power and space is more or less of Swift and Getz..but cannot be compared with the finish. Mileage in city i am getting around 12km/lt AC on. I was told the mileage will improve after the first service. but i got around 15 km/lt on high way AC on. that is great for the investment, considering the power and space. Shock absorbers are okay but not as smoother as swift or getz. Be careful on inspecting the interiors before taking delivery. Inspect thoroughly before accepting it, as i faced problem in changing the front dashed board which had a patchup marks on the brand new car. Otherwise i am extremely happy for my first new car purchase after thorough survey on other cars in the same class.Good looking, worth for the moneyInteriors not up to the mark ( check thoroughly before you take the delivery)

I had purchased an Indica Xeta CNG Reg. No. DL 8CM 3308 on the occasion of Diwali last year 2006 from their dealer Pawa Motors. Ever since I purchased this car, I am going through mental as well as physical torture and harassment. This car started giving troubles from the day of its delivery. Till date it has gone for repairs on several occasions and various parts have been replaced without any success.

I am tired of sending numerous complaints to Tata Motors and to their dealer Pawa Motors. Every time they ask me to bring the car to their workshop and then they keep it under repairs for several days. Thereafter they give delivery of unsuccessfully repaired car with false assurance that the car has been successfully repaired.

I am sorry to state that till date all faults remain as they were. This car stops suddenly on a busy running road. As a result of which, I have already met with accidents and by the grace of god just survived my life and the lives of my family members.

As of now, I am not able to use this car. Even after repairing and replacing several parts on numerous occasions, Tata Motor is not able to successfully repair this car. This compels me in demanding the refund of my money.

Almost every month this car is needed to be sent for repairs to their workshop. Till date they are just doing experiments, researches and trials without any success. Even at present my car is lying at their workshop under repairs. Its not only me who is facing manufacturing defects in this car. Whenever I visit their workshop, I could see many other XETA customers who are also going through nightmares after purchasing this car. I am in touch with many of such harassed customers and we are planning to open a forum in order to collectively take this matter to the higher authorities.

I WOULD LIKE TO WARN OTHERS NEVER TO PURCHASE A TATA CAR. I HAVE ALREADY LOST MY HARD EARNED MONEY AND I DO NOT WANT OTHERS TO GO THROUGH THE SAME HARASSMENT WHICH I AM GOING SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED THIS CAR

Also note that TATA people are shameless and are not at all concerned about their customer’s grievances.

noneIf you want to lose your hard earned money, buy this car

I would like to write a few lines about the new XETA 2007 model. While the technical features of the car are kept untouched, the company has considered the reivews of its customers and have made some changes in the exterior and interior of the Cars. Now the car gives you a sporty look. 1. Elegant new front grill with chrom inserts. The grill has been modified from Smily look and the size reduced so that the car gets an good look. 2. New front look with wire mesh at the bottom gives the car a sporty look 3. Set of single beam clear lens lamps, front fog lamps and sleep tail lamps 4. ORVMs have also been modified in line with the competitors viz. Honda City has such a ORVM 5. The beige interiors pepped up with fresh new seat fabric. 6.The instrument cluster has also been redesigned. The meters now pose a black look from its earlier white background 7. Last but not the least, now the new Indica has 4 new shades viz. Amazon Blue, Pastel Green, Arizona Ochre, Cavern Grey in addition to the old shades Salsa Red (*), Carbon Black(*), Artic Silver and Mint white. But the new look will cost you not much only 1% extra. The Company is giving Rs.20000/- cash discount (from its earlier Rs.25000/-). But the increase in cost is worth while considering the facelift. I am very happy that eventhough, I have booked the vehicle in Dec 2006 last week, I am the proud owner of the new looking Xeta 2007. New Xeta 2007 model - Sporty Look, very goodPrice hike.

wish to explain my experience regarding selection of new car. Because of the availability of too many choices one may confuse like me while selecting. This may be happening to many amongst us while going for purchase of a new vehicle. I hope my this experience will help few like me. I have been on the move to select a car for the last six months. My budget was Rs.3.5 lacs max. With this budget I have to select vehicles from Maruti 800, Alto, Zen Estilo, Wagon-R, Santro,i10(ready to spend few K more for this car),Tata Indica and Spark How Xeta won the race: None of the car is rejected but disfavoured due to reasons that do not seem favourable to our needs. Maruti 800, Alto, Spark - Disfavoured by all the family members because of less leg space for front and back seaters. Spark rules Alto and 800 in all fields. But costlier than other two. Wagon R- voted out because of its van shape. Now Santro, i10, Estillo and Xeta were left in the field. Hyundai i10: Positives: Good in driving and interiors. Engine sound is good.Space wise not better than Santro. AC is good Negatives: Lack of leg room space. My legs and even sales person legs touching the front Dash Board console. When seat adjusted back wards, Persons sitting back become uncomfortable. Gives congested looks when four person sitting in the cars just like Maruti 800. Protruded Front headlights glass gives vintage look from side. Space at top of front deep dash board console is kept unutilized. hence Idea to spend few k more for this car was dropped. Santro: Positives: Same as above. More freebies like MP3 player, and auto Central locking. Already tested vehicle. Good resale value. AC is very good.Cheaper than i10 Negatives: Space wise same but better than i10. Zen Estillo: Positives: Good finishing, Trusted company, Good reputation of after sales services.Fuel efficiency told to be more than Santro and Xeta. Good storage space at back side. Not felt much difference while driving Alto and Zen.Interiors are good.Good range of colors to select.Easy to parks at less space. Negatives: Mini Innova look is not comfortable.Congested with four people sitting.Ride is not comfortable. Feminise look. Good for ladies to drive. Tata Xeta: Negatives: Not liked by general class .Taxi Image. Most of the friends told me to avoid buying Indica Class of vehicle told me better to go for Indigo CS Basic model. Not Good reviews in Mouthshut, Team-BHP. Fuel Efficiency is also a negative factor. Tata is not familiar with Petrol Engines.Very bad resale value.Finishing of Plastic parts are not good at corners. Tata have to tight the screws of QC Team. Positives: Very Spacious, Interiors Best in Class. Comfort best in Class. Cost wise very Cheap. All provisions made keeping in view of the needs of Indian People. So much features available in less cost. Test ride in friend’s Xeta helped me to decide my next car.Well established Service backup of TATAs Most factors were going against the Xeta. But even then I have become dishonest towards other cars and take extra step to meet few actual users of Xeta. Every body have claimed that there vehicle gives near 16+ Km/l in city driving and 18+ Km/l in long drive. Figures look exaggerated. Keeping in view the bad reviews where FE is stated to be 13-14 km/l in City drive, it is near to santro. Therefore the choice is narrowed down to Xeta. And finally I took the delivery of My Xeta GLG, on 7th navratra(11th April, 2008). I recount the Purchasing experience and initial review below: Helping Hand: My friend and Checklist made by Team- BHP. Sales staff amazed to see the exhaustive check list. They had to bring second Vehicle as first one is set aside by checklist. Dealer: Joshi Autozone, Industrial Area Phase-II. Dealing Staff is friendly & cooperative.good environment in showroom. Got Teflon coating, mats and car cover free. 4 free service coupons. Additions made with costs: At showroom on the same day=Additional waranty for 30 months for 4600/-. Anti rust coating. Nippon theft alarm system Dealer Service is Good. Seat covers, sound system were got fitted from outside sources.Unable to locate anttena wire. Initial Experience In the first week I have driven 240 Kms in City. FE Not checked so far. But seems to be not less as the Fuel meter is moving backward not at much speed. Driving Experience is excellent. Twice I was warned by Traffic police for overspeeding. I could not feel that I was overspeeding. At 60 Km/h speed, It is felt that I am driving at 30 km/h. No jerks in while crossing/driving bad roads & potholes. Quite comfortable car. AC is good.Starting trouble once but that was because of my fault as told by Tasc service manager.I pushed Race pedal twice thrice before ignition. Satisfied with decision for Tata Xeta. Will post another review shortly Regards Nirmal Xeta GLG Purchase Price (INR): 2,97,000.00 Dealer Name and City: Joshi Autozone, Chandigarhspacious, Good interiors, Ac is good, Good dealer & service network, Fuel efficiency fairResale price is questionable, taxi image
