How is the Tata Aeris car?
Pros
- It offers a long features list, including ventilated seats
- Choice of AMT gearbox with CNG
- Usable boot space in both petrol and CNG versions
- It is priced quite aggressively considering the segment
- It has decent interior space on offer
Cons
- Misses out on ADAS, and the NCAP safety rating is pending
- Inconsistent interior build quality
- Poor legibility of instrument cluster in sunlight
Tata Aeris Powertrain, Performance, and Range
- CNG 1.2L
- Petrol 1.2L
- The Tata Aeris gets a 1.2-litre engine with CNG-petrol bi-fuel support, producing 75bhp and 96Nm of torque in CNG mode. Its performance figures in petrol mode are the same as the non-CNG version.

- It is offered with a five-speed manual or AMT gearbox, the AMT version gets paddle shifters, we tested the AMT.

- Performance is average, but it doesn't feel strained when it isn't under much load. The AMT works quite well in urban settings, giving you decent acceleration while you're at it.

- On highways, past 80kmph, the engine seems to run out of steam, and it gets particularly hard while carrying four or five passengers.
- It doesn't get a distance-to-empty readout while in CNG mode, which is an odd omission considering the fuel-efficiency focus of the model.

- It gets a dual-cylinder CNG tank system, with a water-equivalent capacity of 70 litres.

Tata Aeris Key Specifications:
| Fuel Type | CNG |
| Engine | 1199 cc |
| Transmission | Manual & Automatic (AMT) |
| Mileage (ARAI) | 26.49 to 28.06 km/kg |
| Power | 74 bhp |
| Torque | 96.5 Nm |
- The Tata Aeris sedan is underpinned by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine, making 84bhp/113Nm.

- It is paired with five-speed manual and AMT transmission options, we tested the manual version.

- It accelerates nicely up to 100kpmh and feels willing to be pushed.

- The manual, though, is not impressive. The clutch pedal feels uneven, and gearshifts aren't smooth.

| Fuel Type | Petrol |
| Engine | 1199 cc |
| Transmission | Manual & Automatic (AMT) |
| Mileage (ARAI) | 19 to 19.2 kmpl |
| Power | 85 bhp |
| Torque | 113 Nm |
Tata Aeris Ride, Handling, and Braking
- The Aeris boasts a very good ride quality, with the ability to dampen small undulations and potholes.

- The steering wheel adds weight nicely as the car speeds up, but it responds quite slowly to sharper turns.
- Overall, the ride feels settled and composed, and the suspension is very impressive.

Tata Aeris Design and Build Quality
- The Tata Aeris is the next-gen cosmetic update to the Tigor sedan, with a complete visual overhaul at the front and rear.

- Its headlight setup is nearly identical to the Tiago, while its taillights get a sleek LED treatment.

- Towards the rear, its taillights get a connected housing, quite similar to the next-gen Tiago but with a boot.

- It gets six colour options, Dandeli Drizzle (purple), Nitro Crimson, Dune Glow (beige), Daytona Grey, Pure Grey, and Pristine White. It also gets six dual-tone options.

Tata Aeris Features and Equipment
- The Tata Aeris' feature package includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new fully digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls.

- It gets ventilated seats, Type-C charging ports, two wireless charger pads, a 360-degree camera, auto-folding ORVMs, rear AC vents, and a new AC control panel.

- It now gets a dashcam with an automatic DVR to keep a record of the last 30 minutes of your drive.
Tata Aeris Interior Design and Ergonomics
- The interiors of the new Tata Aeris are reminiscent of the new Tiago, with a clean dashboard, a two-spoke steering wheel and two freestanding screens.

- It gets a dual-tone Lalitpur grey interior theme, with leatherette upholstery.

Tata Aeris Space and Seating Comfort
- The Aeris gets dual-tone Lalitpur Grey upholstery on the inside, with 'LuxTouch' leatherette seats with a ventilation feature.

- It also gets tilt seats, seat and headrest adjustment, Melange fabric under-thigh support at the front and soft-touch leatherette on the armrest for better comfort.

- It gets AC vents in both rows to keep all occupants comfortable.

Tata Aeris Practicality and Storage Space
- The new Aeris gets 419 litres of boot space. Tata has worked on a hinge mechanism that allows for more usable boot space, which is especially useful for the CNG version.

- Other storage space across the cabin includes a glovebox, armrest storage, cupholders, magazine pockets and bottle holders in the doors.

Tata Aeris Infotainment and Connectivity
- The Tata Aeris gets a freestanding 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen alongside a digital driver's display.

- It gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and six speakers to bring the infotainment package together.

Tata Aeris Safety
- The Aeris is yet to be tested by any NCAP body, but as a Tata, it is expected to score five stars in either the BCAP or GNCAP crash safety tests.

- Its safety package includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera system, stability control and traction control.

- It gets a dashcam with an automatic DVR (digital video recorder) that stores the last 30 minutes of driving footage.

Tata Aeris NVH
- The Aeris is underwhelming in the NVH area, as the three-cylinder engine has noticeable vibrations, especially when pushed.

- Vibrations can be felt through the pedals, seats and the steering wheel, and the engine is also noisy under load, the wind and road noise at highway speeds further exacerbate the NVH issues.
