Skoda Laura

Skoda has removed the Laura sedan from its official India website and we believe that this means the Czech automaker has stopped sales of the D-Segment sedan for the Indian market. The Laura (known as the second generation Octavia globally) has been replaced by the all-new third-generation Octavia which was launched in the Indian market on October 3 for Rs 13.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

It’s the timeless car battle of ‘in with the new and out with old’, well globally at least this is the case for the Skoda Octavia. We are getting the new Octavia on 3 October and unlike the rest of the world Skoda might actually sell both the cars alongside each other for a while. This has given us a reason to pit the Laura (globally known as the second generation Octavia) against the all-new Octavia and give you an idea of what you can expect.

The 2013 Skoda is just two days away from being unveiled for the Indian market and is one of the most highly awaited D-Segment cars to enter the sub-continent. However, this is the Octavia’s second innings in India as it was previously sold here when the Czech automaker made its debut here in 2001. However, as we all know that eventually the Octavia was discontinued in favour of the Laura (known globally as the Octavia). It has had a long but not very fruitful run. Now there seems to be evidence to support our headline that the Laura is on its way out as its official brochure is no longer available despite still being officially listed on their website.

The Skoda Laura vRs and the Fabia Scout have been removed from the official Skoda India website. This possibly means that the vehicles have been discontinued by the Czech automaker in their line up for the Indian market.

Skoda has released a second teaser image for the Octavia vRS. The image shows the vRS badge on the grille of the new car and is the second teaser image that the company has released this month with regard to the car. The previous image showed the Octavia vRS standing next to the standard 2013 Octavia. The cover had an announcement written on it saying that the Octavia vRS will make it’s during the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed that will be held in the UK in July.
