Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Yamaha Motors, will showcase no less than 20 models at the next week’s 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. It will include everything from electrically power-assisted bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, and Leaning Multi-Wheelers (LMW). But apart from it all, Yamaha has also confirmed a designed concept car for the Japanese auto show.
Currently called as an “automobile design concept model”, the motorcycle manufacturer hasn’t divulged any further details about the concept car. The theme the Yamaha Motor booth will be the “Yamaha Future Garage: Resonate the Future”. Thus the booth will offer an “experience of the ever-growing world of personal mobility unique to Yamaha”, according to the Hamamatsu-based motorcycle manufacturer.
This isn’t the first time Yamaha is going to showcase something on four wheels. At the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the bikemaker showcased a futuristic Sports Ride Concept show car. Similar to the old concept, Yamaha is speculated to use the same Gordon Murray’s iStream underpinnings. But this new concept is believed to hit the production line soon unlike its predecessor.
As far as powertrain is concerned, Yamaha is speculated to use the same turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine from the Motiv City Car Concept. The power output would be somewhere between 75-100bhp. With extensive use of carbon-fibre, the weight will be down, lending the sports car a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio.
