- Could launch in H2 of CY26
- New gearbox expected
A much-expected and announced facelift for the Volkswagen Virtus has been spied on test ahead of an expected launch in the second half of this calendar year. The images reveal that it will get a new face, rear design, and new alloy wheels as a part of the package. Like its siblings the Taigun and Kushaq, the cabin of the Virtus too will get an upgrade in the form of a new OS for the infotainment system, new instrument cluster, and the segment-first rear seat massage package.

Of course, the biggest change will be the inclusion of an eight-speed AT for the 1.0-litre TSI petrol. This gearbox replaces the six-speed AT and has already found its way to the Kushaq and Taigun. This engine produces 114bhp and 178Nm and can also be had with a six-speed MT.

This Virtus and consequently the Slavia have a pretty large challenge ahead of them with the facelift that they will get this year. One of their biggest rivals, the Hyundai Verna, got a massive upgrade this year and has brought a lot of new kit to the table including two major features—a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS, both of which these two cars are not expected to get. A big way to get around this would be for Volkswagen (and Skoda) to get their pricing right and have a spread-out variant matrix to cover a larger price bracket.
