- Expected to come out next year
- Rival to the BMW XM and the Mercedes G580
The next-generation Porsche Cayenne is under development, and if our sources are to be believed, the electric version of this new SUV will have some incredible range numbers. More on that later. Let’s talk about the design first.
The new Cayenne EV will adopt a cleaner and more aerodynamic look as compared to its combustion-powered sibling. The grille area will be almost closed, featuring only discreet vertical slits at the edges, functioning as air curtains to channel air around the wheels. Other design highlights will include active grille shutters on the bumper, 20-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, and redesigned door panels with a new glasshouse that incorporates a fixed rear quarter window. At the rear, slim new tail lights will run across the width of the SUV.
The electric Cayenne will sit alongside the facelifted petrol and plug-in hybrid models, which are also due in 2026. However, the EV is expected to arrive first, with a possible global debut lined up for the Los Angeles Motor Show later this year.
For India, the Cayenne EV will likely be positioned above the Taycan in Porsche’s lineup, slotting itself as the brand’s flagship electric SUV. Expect prices to start from well over Rs. 2 crore (ex-showroom), putting it up against rivals like the BMW XM and the Mercedes-Benz G580. With expected outputs of up to 1,000bhp and a 1,000km claimed range, the Cayenne EV could set a new benchmark for performance-oriented luxury EVs in the Indian market.
