- Compact off-roader makes global debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025
- Combines retro design cues with modern tech
Toyota has officially unveiled the all-new Land Cruiser FJ at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, marking the return of the brand’s iconic compact off-roader. Positioned below the Land Cruiser 250 and 300 Series, the FJ is a modern reinterpretation of the classic FJ40, aimed at enthusiasts seeking a rugged yet lifestyle-oriented SUV.

On the outside, the Land Cruiser FJ flaunts a boxy and purposeful design, reminiscent of the original. It features round LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, a bold front grille with Toyota lettering, and prominent wheel arches housing chunky all-terrain tyres.

The upright silhouette, contrasting roof, and exposed door hinges add to its old-school charm, while the short overhangs and high ground clearance emphasise its off-road intent.

Inside, the cabin continues the rugged theme but with a contemporary twist. It offers a digital driver display, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Toyota’s latest interface, and durable yet premium materials suited for both adventure and daily use.

Powering the new FJ is a 2.7-litre petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD system. It produces 160bhp and 246Nm of torque. Toyota is expected to introduce the Land Cruiser FJ in global markets by late 2026, with an India launch likely to follow thereafter.
