Toyota’s hero product in India, the Innova MPV, recently elapsed 20 years and more than 12 lakh sales. Introduced in the market in 2005, the Innova became a household name for its ruggedness, comfort, and reliability. This was further bolstered with the addition of the Innova Crysta in 2016 and the Innova Hycross in 2022. The latter was a big leap, with the carmaker’s hybrid powertrain making its debut in a more accessible price point. It packs in a 2.0-litre petrol engine, which works in tandem with a strong hybrid system, generating a cumulative power output of 173bhp/209Nm. The Hycross breached the 1,00,000 sales mark in November 2024.
Toyota’s strongest suit – reliability, combined with comfort and value retention in the used car market, immediately made the Innova a go-to car for both consumers and fleet owners alike. The customer-centric approach, especially with the holistic aftersales service ecosystem, T Care, encompasses T DELIVER, T GLOSS, T ASSIST, T SAATH, T SECURE, T CHOICE, T INSPECT, and T SMILE. This bolsters the brand’s overall trust factor.
Remarking on the sales milestone, Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “The Toyota Innova has built a deep emotional bond with customers over the last two decades – trusted as a dependable companion for families, loved by all for its comfort and reliability, and chosen time and again across generations. Whether for daily commutes or memorable road trips, the Innova has remained a part of countless personal journeys. Beyond its emotional connect, the Innova stands strong as a product benchmark – offering spacious interiors, robust build quality and smooth drivability, making it one of the most trusted and loved MPVs in India.”
