Toyota has used the 2026 Indonesia Motor Show to reveal the electric version of the Hilux and it arrives hot on the heels of the new-generation ICE Hilux's India launch. The Hilux BEV keeps the same muscular pickup truck proportions and overall silhouette as its petrol counterpart but introduces a set of EV-specific changes that give it its own identity.
Dimensionally, the Hilux BEV is identical to the ICE version and measures 5.3 metres in length with a 3,085mm wheelbase. Ground clearance stands at 210mm, keeping it well-suited for off-road use. Up front, the LED headlamps carry over but get different DRL elements, while the grille is closed off and finished in a body colour treatment in line with EV convention. The 17-inch alloy wheels also get a new design specific to the electric variant.
Power comes from a 59.2kWh battery pack feeding dual electric motors producing a combined output of 193bhp. Toyota claims a range of 315km on a full charge. For charging, the Hilux BEV supports 150kW DC fast charging via CCS2, capable of taking the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes. AC charging via Type 2 at 10kW takes approximately 6.5 hours for a full charge from 10 per cent. The BEV also gets an e-axle under cover for added protection and retains Multi Terrain Select for off-road capability.
Inside, the Hilux BEV gets a dual 12.3-inch display setup, one for the infotainment and one for the instrument cluster along with wireless charging, USB Type-C ports, and an electronic parking brake. The payload capacity stands at 750 kg, keeping its commercial and adventure utility credentials intact.
Toyota is yet to confirm markets or a launch timeline for the Hilux BEV beyond its Indonesia showcase.
