Top 3 Things Nissan Gravite Needs for Market Success
    • Launch by the End of FY26
    • Second sub-10 lakh car for Nissan

    Two-horse Game

Nissan will be opening its new innings in India with the arrival of the Gravite sub-compact MPV. It will be launched in India by the end of FY26 and will be the Japanese automaker's second competitor in the sub-Rs. 10 lakh segment. It's a sister car to the Renault Triber and will aim to fill the pricing void left by Nissan closing the door on Datsun a few years ago. The price point where the Gravite will enter the market is now the de facto entry point and has a significant number of players across brands. This means Nissan has to play its cards right and here are three moves that we feel it should make to ensure the Gravite will hit the ground running.

    Distinct Design from the Triber

In the sub-compact segment, looks play a crucial role and Nissan must do two things to maximise this effort. The first is that it must have a distinct design as compared to the Triber and this means a new front and rear end, wheels, and light patterns. The overall shape and size are expected to go unchanged as compared to the Triber and making it stand out in this way will make a difference. What's more, Nissan must choose a bright palette and the colours must contrast the Triber's so that both vehicles stand out.

    Feature-loaded

The Nissan MPV needs to have at least one stand-out feature as compared to the Triber. The top-spec Triber gets features like dual digital screens, wireless charger, USB-C charging ports, and second-row AC vents with one-touch tumble. Nissan could up this game by adding connected car technology, alloy wheels, and 360-degree camera, all three hot features in this part of the market at present.

    Pricing and Variants

Nissan is expected to be in a higher pricing bracket as compared to the Triber but should limit itself to a maximum of Rs. 40,000 to ensure that it stays competitive. Currently, the Triber only has one AT variant at the top end and Nissan could take advantage of this by offering lower-spec AT trims.
