- Harrier EV to be launched this year
Tata Motors topped the EV sales charts in January 2025 by selling 5047 EVs as compared to MG which managed to sell 4237 units in the same period. However, this is a drop for Tata as it sold 5802 units in January 2024 leading to a 13.01 per cent decline when comparing year-on-year. MG took the second spot with 4237 units sold compared to 1203 units in January 2024 resulting in a growth of 252.2 per cent. Third in line is Mahindra with 688 units in January 2025 as compared to 784 units in January 2024.

Tata and MG’s growth has undoubtedly come on the back of portfolio expansion with Tata adding the Punch and Curvv EV while MG added the Windsor EV in 2024. The new additions have been significant successes for their respective companies with the MG even bagging the honour of Green Car Award 2025 by ICOTY. Tata has the largest EV portfolio in India and will add the Harrier and Sierra EV to their list later this year. A total of 11,266 EVs were sold in India in January 2025 as compared to 8517 units in January 2024 resulting in a growth of 32.38 per cent.
