Tata Tiago crosses one lakh bookings in 14 months

Tata Motors have received one lakh bookings for their new Tiago since its launch. By crossing this milestone, they have tasted a fair bit of success with this entry-level hatchback.

The company says they have sold more than 65,000 Tiagos since April last year. They are working on catering to the demand of remaining customers whose deliveries are pending. The Tata Tiago is manufactured at the company's Sanand plant and its production is in full swing.

Out of the overall Tiagos sold, about 80 per cent is constituted by the petrol trim. This also highlights the current shift in demand of petrol-powered vehicles in the compact segment of cars. The company had also revealed that 70 per cent of the Tiago’s overall bookings are for the top-of-the-line variants - XT and XZ.

The Tiago's success is an important achievement for Tata given that none of the other older siblings had set the company’s cash register ringing. The small hatchback is priced between Rs 3.42 lakhs and Rs 5.98 lakhs (ex-showroom) and recently has been introduced with an AMT gearbox as well. It is expected to continue to add to Tata's passenger car market share in India.
