- QWD badge on rear quarter glass confirms all-wheel-drive configuration

With the Sierra EV's launch just around the corner on 30 June, Tata Motors has dropped a new teaser that confirms something buyers have been curious about. The teaser reveals a 'QWD' badge on the rear quarter glass, the same designation used on the Harrier EV, confirming that the Sierra EV will become the second Tata model to offer all-wheel drive.
Beyond the drivetrain confirmation, the teaser also gives us a clearer picture of what the Sierra EV will look like. Since it is based on the ICE Sierra, the overall design and cabin layout carry over largely unchanged but with a set of EV-specific touches to set it apart. On the outside, we can spot a 'Sierra.EV' badge on the tailgate, a 'Tata.EV' badge on the front doors, a slightly tweaked front bumper, and a charging flap in the conventional position. The rear profile and alloy wheel design, as visible in the teaser, appear identical to the ICE version. Tata has a history of introducing exclusive colour options for its EVs, and the Sierra EV could follow suit with one or more shades not available on the petrol model.
Inside, the Sierra EV is expected to borrow the bulk of its features from the ICE version including triple screen display, panoramic sunroof, cooled front seats, powered and memory driver seat, and wireless charging. However, a redesigned centre console and a different interior theme are expected to give the EV cabin its own identity.
On the powertrain front, Tata has not officially confirmed any specifications yet. But going by the QWD badge and the Sierra EV's positioning within Tata's EV family, our expectation is that it will share the Harrier EV's 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options, offered in both RWD and AWD configurations. The Battery-as-a-Service programme and a lifetime battery warranty are also likely to be part of the package, in line with what Tata has been rolling out across its EV range.
When launched, the Sierra EV will go up against the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and MG ZS EV.
