- Will get a new 1.5-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine
- This motor will debut with the new Sierra
As we wait for Tata Motors to reveal the technical specifications and prices of the new Sierra range (EV and ICE), the company has confirmed another crucial development for the Harrier and Safari siblings.

After a long wait, Tata Motors will finally introduce a petrol offering for its flagship SUVs, the Harrier and the Safari. This will be a 1.5-litre, direct injection, turbo-petrol powertrain that is set to debut in the upcoming Sierra. The Indian carmaker will announce the prices of this fresh offering on 9 December.

Showcased for the first time at the 2023 Auto Expo, the 1.5-litre TGDi motor is tuned to develop 165bhp and 280Nm. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard, while Tata is expected to play it safe and bring the six-speed torque converter unit in the automatic department.
