- 1.5-litre GDi turbo petrol
- To be offered with drive modes
The much-anticipated Tata Harrier petrol has been spotted ahead of its launch that's expected to happen this month. The images reveal a Dark Edition of the SUV, indicating that the powertrain will be offered across the range. What's more, we can also see that it will get drive modes as part of the package. This will be the first time that the Harrier is getting a petrol option since its launch in 2019. The Harrier petrol will be joined by a petrol-powered Safari, covering both two-row and three-row SUV markets.

The engine in question is Tata's 1.5-litre GDi Hyperion engine that debuted with the Sierra. Here, it produces 158bhp and 255Nm, and can be had with a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT. We expect a similar configuration for both the Harrier and the Safari petrol.

This petrol-powered Harrier will cover competition from the likes of the MG Hector/Hector Plus, XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, and the Kia Carens Clavis. We expect a difference of at least Rs. 1.5-2 lakh, depending on the variant between the diesel and petrol-powered models.
