- New update focuses mainly on cosmetics
- Powered by the same engine option since launch
The Meridian Track Edition is Jeep India’s latest attempt to refresh its three-row SUV, without making any mechanical or platform-level changes. Instead of improving the mechanicals, this newest update focuses almost entirely on cosmetic differentiation and cabin comfort additions.
While the sliding second row adds genuine usability, the rest of the package leans heavily on visual upgrades, including blacked-out exterior elements, some decals, revised interior finishes, and additional badging. The underlying powertrain remains unchanged, continuing with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that has been in service since the Meridian’s launch.

This approach reflects a cautious investment strategy rather than a product-led push in an increasingly crowded SUV segment. Rivals have either introduced new-generation platforms or expanded powertrain choices to improve relevance. Jeep, in contrast, appears to be extending the Meridian’s lifecycle through limited-run editions that create showroom interest without the costs associated with huge engineering updates.

The absence of mechanical changes also suggests controlled volume expectations. Powertrain upgrades often require regulatory re-validation and higher development spend, something manufacturers typically justify only when demand growth is anticipated. Ultimately, the Track Edition functions more as a proactive refresh than a planned evolution. It keeps the Meridian visually current and comfort-focused, but stops short of addressing broader competitive pressures within the premium SUV market in India.
