• Connected light setup
• More features expected
• ADAS likely
'Get ready to fall in love' is the new tagline the new Skoda Kushaq has been teased with. It is still a veiled unit, though. With the DDLJ theme and a few subtle hints, the new Kushaq is also expected to get more features.
From the teaser, we can see front and rear connected lights with multiple segments - it isn't a continuous line. The grille, though, is clearer, and it looks strikingly similar to what the current-gen Kylaq offers. The rear end gets a connected tail-lamp setup with an illuminated Skoda logo. The new Kushaq will also follow the carmaker's 'Modern Solid' design language. A DDLJ theme is one emotional bit - read on to know how it could create an impact.

Given that the mid-size segment is a hot one right now, the Kushaq is highly likely to bring in much-needed changes, the likes of which include more button controls in lieu of capacitive ones, bigger infotainment, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, and seat ventilation. Mechanically, the same 1.0L and 1.5L turbo-petrol motors will be carried over.
DDLJ Theme: Beyond Sentiments
The Skoda Kushaq has not particularly been a volume-seller in India, and the carmaker's own sub-4m offering, the Kylaq, stole the former's limelight, leading to a product cannibalisation.

With a segment that has rivals like the revived Tata Sierra that garnered over 70,000 bookings on the first day itself, Hyundai Creta that leads the segment, Maruti Victoris that has made strides as an Arena vehicle, and the new Kia Seltos that looks and feels more upmarket compared to its preceding iteration, the Kushaq has to transcend mere presence. While not flagship in the conventional sense, this segment is a big league, and an emotional connect can drive sales numbers.
