- More than 400k range
- Shift to cylindrical cells
Luxury carmaker, Rolls-Royce, plans to phase away from the ICE league by 2031. Starting out in 2023 with the Spectre coupe (EV), its order books have been completely filled, even before it started rolling off production lines.
Rolls-Royce is reportedly working on two more electrics – a sedan and an SUV – the latter of which was recently spied. With several carmakers jumping on the EV trend wave, RR will make it a point to not be left trailing, and blending in signature luxury with the silence of an EV should ideally play out in its favour.

Expected to launch in 2027, the new RR EV will be dimensionally smaller than the Cullinan, but will be a full-size SUV, nevertheless. What platform RR adopts with the upcoming eSUV, remains unknown for now. What’s known, though, is that these new-gen EVs will get a 400km+ claimed range, and a shift to cylindrical cells from prismatic cells is highly likely.
