- Positive growth witnessed for CNG models
- India charted as a manufacturing and export hub
Renault India, after acquiring a complete stake in the Renault-Nissan JV, is set to broaden its offensive. Amidst the carmaker chalking out a new India-centric strategy that involves a multi-pronged approach, the Triber MPV’s CNG version has witnessed soaring demand. This bolsters the French carmaker’s confidence in forecasting a positive trajectory for CNG models.

With the Kiger, Renault has followed a similar strategy, offering a government-approved, official CNG retrofitment kit. While this is a step in the right direction, no such plans have been chalked out for the upcoming B-MPV and C-SUV models. However, the carmaker is ready to provide factory-fitted CNG kits for its existing cars, provided the demand soars further.

Renault has now started getting a jist of the intensifying competition across various segments in the Indian auto market. The set of correct moves isn’t limited to CNG inclusion, but also an openness in diversifying powertrain offerings that encompass hybrid and electric cars. Renault also aims to boost domestic manufacturing in order to cater to international markets, thereby making India a launchpad for global-spec models.
