With the second generation Opel Insignia already selling in a few markets as the Holden Commodore and the new Buick Regal, the next step is to obviously introduce the range-topper OPC version (Opel Performance Center). What you see is a digitally rendered image that serves to preview this model and highlights its sporty intent through its aggressive OPC design lines.
This essentially means that it will get an aggressive front bumper with a lip spoiler, huge air dams, side skirts, a rear diffuser, lowered suspension and larger discs for better stopping power. Despite no confirmation from the car maker about the Insignia OPC being in-the-works, an Insignia with all the afore-mentioned performance parts was spied earlier this year in Germany.
As the most powerful Insignia version is currently powered by a 260bhp 2.0-litre turbo motor, expect the new Insignia OPC’s four-cylinder turbo engine to be capable of producing at least 300bhp, if not more. Opel has already told reporters that there will be no V6 for the European market. Furthermore, what’s key to the package is that it will shed a lot of weight, which will ideally make it a sprightly and nimble performer. Sources expect Opel to showcase the Insignia OPC at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for more spy shots or renderings in the time to come.
