The Nissan Tekton that you have been seeing in our launch story is a fully-loaded Tekna+ 280 DCT variant priced at Rs. 18.59 lakh, and It’s got all the bells and whistles that Nissan offers with the Tekton. But what if your budget is lower? What if you want a bigger car for the price of a higher-spec sub-compact SUV? Well, the Nissan Tekton Visia 160MT is a good bet, and here is what it offers you in terms of design, features and powertrain.
Exterior and interior highlights
While this might be the entry-level, it has not skimped in the looks department, as here too you get LED headlamps and DRLs, Tekton badging on the hood and body coloured ORVMs and door handles. The wheels are 17-inch steel units but look very proportionate to the size of the vehicle. Inside, you get the same layout but sans a touchscreen infotainment system. Nissan offers a four-speaker Arkamys sound system for this variant, and it can be controlled through the digital cluster.
Powertrain, features and safety
The only engine on offer is Nissan’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol producing 99bhp and 166Nm. This engine in the Tekton is only offered with the automaker’s six-speed MT. In the Magnite, this engine can also be had with a CVT. The claimed mileage stands at 19.5kmpl for this powertrain.
Features of this variant include a digital instrument cluster, an Arkamys sound system with four speakers, power windows, power mirrors, an LED light package, AC with rear vents, and height adjustment for the driver’s seat. All versions of the Tekton get six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability programme and a five-star BNCAP crash test rating.
Worth the jump to Visa+ variant
The Visa+ variant, priced at Rs. 11.14 lakh, gets a 9.0-inch infotainment system, wireless phone mirroring, steering-mounted audio controls, and a rear-view camera as part of the package. It costs an additional Rs. 65000 over the Visia variant and is a worthy jump for the extra money.
