Nissan India has revealed the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the newly launched Tekton SUV. Introduced today at a starting price of Rs. 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the midsize SUV is offered with two turbo-petrol engine options, both shared with its alliance sibling, the Renault Duster.
The most fuel-efficient version in the lineup is the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, which delivers a claimed mileage of 19.4kmpl. This engine is expected to cater to buyers prioritising lower running costs without compromising on performance.
Higher variants are powered by a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that can be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The manual version has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 17.8kmpl, while the DCT-equipped variant returns a slightly higher 18.5kmpl.
Mechanically, the Tekton shares its platform and powertrain options with the Renault Duster, although Nissan has given the SUV its own exterior styling, cabin design, and equipment list to differentiate it from its sibling. The SUV marks Nissan's return to the highly competitive midsize SUV segment and takes on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq
