What you see in the pictures is Ford’s Shelby GT500 that was caught testing and this prototype is quite different from what was seen in the last sighting.
The previous test mule was essentially a GT350R with a concealed front fascia. In this instance though, the test car didn’t have the GT350’s wing, and it was exhaustively camouflaged which is an indication that the prototype is close to its final design. The interesting bit here is that the wheels have been covered too. However, the photographer was able to shoot the tyre’s side-wall which shows off the 20-inch wheels with 305-section tyres. This along with the absence of the wing proves that this isn’t a GT350 variant.
Furthermore, if you look close enough through the camouflage, you will be able to spot the angular front and rear bumpers too. Sources speculate that the design cues of the new GT500 could be similar to the brand’s own Mustang. But, other than these bits of information, the test car wasn’t able to give out any more details. Expect Ford to debut the Shelby GT500 at the Detroit Motor Show next year, so stay tuned for more updates.
