Lexus might have just retired its first hero, the LS saloon, but it is already plotting a comeback for the moniker, albeit with a massive twist. The next-gen LS will leave its saloon origins to become an ultra-luxury MPV. The concept car will be officially unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility Expo.
The teaser video showcases a six-wheeled vehicle with a brief glimpse of a lounge-like seating layout for the second row. With saloons losing steam globally, it was only a matter of time before Lexus had to do something massive to keep the brand going, and this is as massive as it can get.
Apart from six wheels and lounge seating, it is also possible to tell that the production-spec MPV will span over five metres long, with a wheelbase of over three metres, making it quite roomy inside. Given that this is essentially a Toyota, we can expect HEV and PHEV powertrain options, depending on the market. This car will come to India in its production guise, given that there is a huge market for luxury MPVs, especially amongst politicians and the film fraternity.
