- Spied for the first time
- To receive design tweaks and feature upgrades
The Volkswagen Virtus facelift has been spotted testing for the first time, indicating that an update for the sedan is in the works. The test mule, although heavily camouflaged, hints at a series of cosmetic and feature enhancements.
At the front, the updated Virtus is expected to feature revised LED headlamps along with a tweaked grille and bumper design, aligning it with Volkswagen’s newer design language. The rear section could also see subtle updates to the tail lamps and bumper, while new alloy wheel designs are likely to be introduced.
Inside, the facelifted model is expected to receive feature additions such as a larger touchscreen infotainment system, updated digital instrument cluster, and possibly new upholstery options. Volkswagen could also enhance the equipment list with additional convenience and safety features.
Mechanically, the Virtus facelift is expected to retain the existing powertrain options, including the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines. The six-speed automatic gearbox will mostly be replaced by the new eight-speed unit for the 1.0-litre motor.
In terms of timeline, the Taigun facelift is scheduled to launch first on 9 April, with the Virtus update expected to follow in the coming months. Similarly, the Skoda Slavia is also likely to receive comparable updates, in line with the recently introduced Skoda Kushaq facelift.
Once launched, the updated Virtus will continue to compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the Skoda Slavia in the midsize sedan segment.
