    New Toyota Hilux Variants Explained
    • Launched in India at Rs. 31.99 lakh
    • Available across three variants

The next-gen Toyota Hilux has been launched in India at Rs. 31.99 lakh. It is available across three variants and only with an automatic transmission mated to Toyota’s 2.8-litre diesel engine, but with both 4X2 and 4X4 powertrain options. Bookings are open from today, with deliveries set to begin in the second week of August.

    Day/night IRVM

    Rear fog lamps

    Matte finish for ORVMS

    Pole antenna

8.0-inch infotainment system with four speakers

    Steering-mounted audio controls

    Wired phone mirroring

GX 4X4 AT- Rs. 33.69 lakh

The features on this variant are the same as the 2WD model, but as the name suggests, it gets 4X4 technology for the additional price of Rs. 1.70 lakh. The package includes 4WD with high and low range and differential locks.

VX 4X4 AT- Rs. 36.69 lakh

This is the top-spec Hilux with all the bells and whistles that Toyota offers with this SUV. Over the GX variant, it gets the following.

    Front row seat belt pretensioners

    360-degree camera

    Downhill assist

    Terrain selector

    LED headlamps and indicators

    Power mirrors

    Sharkfin antenna

    Premium dashboard

    Illuminated scuff plates

    12.3-inch display for infotainment system

    Eight speakers

    Wireless charger

    Button start

    Wireless phone mirroring

    PM 2.5 air filter

    Interior Dashboard

    Variant to pick

While Toyota has included a decent bit of kit in the GX variant, we would suggest going for the fully loaded VX variant as the jump of Rs. three lakh is well worth the extra equipment that is included for the additional price. The move to keep it AT only is indicative of the target buyer for the SUV, and going right to the top is well worth the jump.

The saga of the lifestyle pickup truck is now well and truly underway. This car will be joined by the D-Max V-Cross and the upcoming Mahindra global pickup truck that will be slightly cheaper but still be a strong contender in this game. It is also indicative of what we can expect in the next-gen Toyota Fortuner SUV.
