- New Octavia leaked via Skoda's online car configurator
- Will make its global debut on 11 November 2019
- Could come with an optional hybrid powertrain
Skoda revealed the first-ever teaser images of the next-generation Octavia last week, which gave us a glimpse into the design of the new model. Now, an official image of the new Skoda Octavia has been leaked ahead of its global debut on 11 November. It will go on sale in Europe in early 2020, while the India launch could take place towards the end of next year or early 2021.
The purported image of the new-gen Octavia was leaked via Skoda’s online car configurator and was posted on the Skoda Community DE forum. The design of the new Octavia is a mix of the Skoda Scala hatchback and the Superb sedan. Up front, it gets sharp LED headlights and a 3D butterfly grille with chrome surround. In profile, the silhouette is that of a coupe-ish sedan, while it also features machined 10-spoke alloys. The rear is where you'll find similarities with the Skoda Superb, as it will get the C-shaped split-LED taillights. And continuing with the new badging trend, it will feature the Skoda lettering on the trunk instead of the logo.
Interiors of the new Skoda Octavia aren't out yet. However, we expect an all-new cabin layout with premium materials. Spy shots have revealed that it will come with a virtual cockpit instrument cluster, a floating touchscreen infotainment system and a new two-spoke steering wheel. It is also expected to get an electric parking brake, while other bits will be carried over from the outgoing model.
Mechanically, it will continue to be offered with the same powertrains as the current model. That said, the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia could also get a hybrid version. And if not that, there's also rumours about a 48V mild-hybrid motor making its way into the new Octavia. Additionally, the new-gen Octavia RS is expected to be the most powerful Skoda vehicle to roll out of Mlada Boleslav.
