The Mahindra Vision S continues testing in hilly regions, which might be the final phase, ahead of an official showcase. We have seen the compact SUV with headlight units borrowed from the Thar. But a new development has ensued. Two test mules of the SUV have been spotted, each with different lighting signatures.
While the front fascia essentially remains the same, neither of these two test mules is an EV (as seen by the open grille design), although we speculate that lithium power is in the fray. This could hint at different designs across the variant matrix. The biggest highlight, though, is the platform it’s built on top of – NU_IQ – a modular unit that can accommodate sub-4m to full-size SUVs, as well as ICE and EV powertrains (after tailoring modifications for each type of car). Previous videos and photo-based spy shots have confirmed a diesel-manual powertrain combination for the upcoming Vision S.
Mahindra has not officially charted out a timeline for vehicles based on the new platform, but we can make educated guesses. Given that the platform and concepts were unveiled on 15 August, 2025, further announcements can likely be made on 15 August, 2026, precisely one year later. The Vision series will start rolling off production lines in 2027.
