- Expected to be unveiled next year
- Will move to the K1 platform
Kia has commenced public road tests of the new-gen Sonet in India ahead of its launch, which could take place early next year. The first sighting of this updated model gives us a look at the front and side profile, revealing key details.
As seen in the images here, the 2027 Kia Sonet gets a fascia inspired by its elder sibling, the Seltos. The grille gets a more flat and upright design with honeycomb-shaped inserts, brand new front bumper, new LED DRLs, fresh set of machined alloy wheels, new design for the ORVMs, shark-fin antenna, and a sunroof. Another spy shot partially reveals the front bumper and the pentagon-shaped inserts on either end of the skid plate.

Inside, we expect the new Sonet to feature larger 12.3-inch screens, new upholstery and dashboard themes, and more features. Notably, the car will move to the K1 platform, and this should help solve the space constraints in the second row. Considering that Kia recently removed the ADAS suite from the Syros, it remains to be seen if this feature is offered in this refreshed form of its sub-compact SUV. A panoramic sunroof could also be on the cards, considering that a few rivals currently offer this feature and Kia wouldn’t want to stay behind, especially when it comes to the feature list.
Under the hood, the next-gen Kia Sonet is expected to source power from the same 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines paired with manual, iMT, and automatic gearboxes. Upon launch, it will continue to rival the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and the Skoda Kylaq.
