BMW has officially commenced bookings of the new X1 LWB ahead of its launch that is scheduled to take place on 21 August. The extended wheel base iteration of the brand’s entry-level luxury SUV can be booked at authorised dealerships or via the company’s official website.
Set to be locally produced at the automaker’s facility in Chennai, the BMW X1 LWB will have a 108mm longer wheelbase than the standard version’s 2,692mm dimension. This should in turn result in better legroom for the second row occupants. Apart from the change in length, the model remains identical to the standard X1. Notably, BMW already sells the X1 LWB in the electric form, called the iX1 LWB.
While the official details are scarce at the moment, we expect the new X1 LWB to retain the feature list from its regular sibling. These could include a large curved screen dominating the dashboard, floating centre console, three-spoke steering wheel, wireless charger, auto park assist, Harman Kardon music system, automatic climate control, and more.
The 2026 BMW X1 LWB could be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine belting out 134bhp and 230Nm, or the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine developing 148bhp and 360Nm. A seven-speed DCT unit is likely to be the sole transmission on offer.
