New 2018 Mini Cooper launched at Rs 29.7 lakhs

- Will be available in Cooper 3-door petrol and diesel, 5-door diesel and convertible petrol variants

- Gets tweaked headlamp design and the tail lamps get the Union-Jack signature

- A number of option packs are being offered to spec-up the Mini.

Mini has launched the new updated 2018 Cooper for a price tag of Rs 29.7 lakh for the 3-door diesel S variant. The 3-door Cooper S petrol is priced at Rs 33.3 lakh while the Cooper S convertible costs Rs 37.1 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India). The 5-door Mini Cooper is offered with a diesel engine only and costs Rs 35 lakh, ex-showroom.

The 2018 Mini will be offered in three new hues, Emerald grey, Starlit blue and Solaris Orange along with the previous set of colour options. Mini also offers an optional piano-black exterior package with LED headlights, the tail lamps and the radiator grille finished in black. The Mini Cooper finally gets the new Mini logo in India and the Union Jack inspired LED pattern on the tail lamps. 

The interior styling has been refreshed and gets a piano-black finish for the centre console. Again, Mini offers the optional backlit interior surface and the Excitement Pack that offers multi-chrome LED ambient interior lighting. For the hard-top, you can also opt for the optional sunroof. The standard display screen is a 6.5-inch circular unit and you can opt for the optional touchscreen 8.8-inch unit as well. 

Under the hood, the petrol Cooper S is powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that develops 189bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through the 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic gearbox propelling it past 100kmph in 6.7 seconds to a top whack of 235kmph. The 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine develops 112bhp of power and 270Nm of torque. The Mini Cooper gets Sport and Green driving modes along with driver aid like cruise control, ESP, rear-view camera and heads-up display.

The new range of Mini Coopers will be imported as CBUs and will be available for test-drives and deliveries starting June 2018.
