Mini UK celebrates 10th anniversary of first diesel car launch

Mini UK is celebrating 10 years since the first diesel car was added in the Mini range. Mini One D was the first car to get a diesel mill in 2003. The 2003 Mini One D was powered by a 1.4-litre four cylinder engine with common rail direct fuel injection which developed 76PS of power.

The current generation of Mini One D has been upgraded to a more power engine. It is powered by 1.6-litre engine that churns out 90PS of maximum power and 215Nm of torque. The most powerful Mini Car is the Cooper SD which is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which produces 143PS of power and 305Nm of maximum torque and is available in both – manual and automatic transmission.

In India, the Mini Countryman Diesel recently began its local sojourn after BMW began local assembly of the vehicle from CKD kits at their plant in Chennai. The Countryman D is powered by a 1.6-litre oil burner that produces 112bhp and 270Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels  via a six-speed automatic gearbox.
