- In collaboration with designer Gaurav Gupta
- Just 50 units of each model will be produced
Luxury carmakers have often joined hands with fashion houses to create one-off collector's models, and MG Select has now brought that concept to India. The brand has unveiled the Couture Editions of the Cyberster electric roadster and the M9 luxury limousine, developed in collaboration with renowned couturier Gaurav Gupta. The two bespoke models were showcased during the unveiling of Gupta's latest Light Song collection at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
Unlike conventional special editions that are usually limited to cosmetic tweaks, the Couture Editions have been designed as artistic interpretations of both vehicles. Drawing inspiration from Gaurav Gupta's signature Serpent Infinity motif, the Cyberster and M9 feature bespoke detailing, layered textures and hand-finished elements that reflect the craftsmanship seen in his couture creations. The Cyberster also formed part of the runway presentation, extending the collection from fashion to mobility.
This collaboration marks the next chapter in the partnership between MG Select and Gaurav Gupta. Earlier this year, the duo showcased an early design interpretation of the Cyberster at the designer's menswear flagship in New Delhi. With the Couture Editions, that creative exercise has evolved into two production-ready collector's models that combine automotive design with haute couture.
The MG Select Cyberster Couture Edition and MG Select M9 Couture Edition will each be limited to just 50 units, making them among the rarest MG models to be offered in India. Both models will be sold exclusively through the MG Select retail network. Pre-reservations are now open, while prices will be announced on August 3.
Speaking at the unveiling, Milind Shah, Head of MG Select, said the collaboration reflects the brand's vision of creating luxury experiences that go beyond conventional automobiles. Gaurav Gupta added that the project allowed his sculptural design philosophy to be translated into the world of luxury mobility, creating a unique blend of craftsmanship, technology and artistry.
While the Couture Editions do not introduce any mechanical changes over the standard models, they add another layer of exclusivity to MG Select's flagship offerings. With only 50 examples of each planned for India, both the Cyberster and M9 Couture Editions are expected to appeal to collectors and buyers looking for something that stands apart from traditional luxury cars.
