McLaren F1 successor starts testing on a 720S-based prototype

Not very long ago McLaren had announced their plans to build a successor to their legendary supercar, the McLaren F1. Seems like the project has reached the brick and mortar stage and the British marque has chosen their latest sportscar, the 720S as a base for their first prototype.

The BP23 Hypercar, as it is codenamed right now, will have to be the fastest road-legal McLaren ever to be the rightful heir of the F1 throne. It will get the three-seat configuration and only 106 of these will be ever built to match the 106 McLaren F1s.

The BP23 will be powered by a hybrid powertrain with the output certainly going north of 1000bhp. It will have all the futuristic electronic gadgetry and is expected to go into production two years from now. The deliveries might begin in 2020 and if you are one of the chosen 100 from across the globe, the 2.5 million dollar price tag will certainly be a pocket change for you!
