Maserati shows off its stunning Alfieri Concept at Geneva

Maserati is celebrating its 100th year of existence in the automobile universe. Naturally the brand wants us all to take notice of this milestone and what better way to do it than showcasing a stunning new concept car at one of the world’s most coveted motor shows.

The all-new Alfieri is a 2+2 concept based on Maserati’s hardcore GranTurismo MC Stradale. Designed at the Maserati Centro Stile in Turin by a small group of young designers, the Alfieri takes inspiration from the 3500 GT and 5000 GT from the 1950s.

Inside, the dashboard is conceptually inspired by that of the Maserati 5000 GT. It boasts a clean, organic, two-tone design built around a central TUFT screen. The instrument panel has a classic layout with two main clocks and two smaller ones in between. Rather than analogue clocks, the instrument panel features TFT displays inspired by modern camera menus in the way they indicate kmph and engine rpm.

Under the sleek body lies a 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine from Maranello. Developing 460bhp and 520Nm, this engine is the real reason behind Alfieri’s driving force. The car is a proper functional prototype featuring a 6-speed, electro-actuated gearbox (MC Shift) mounted on a single unit with a limited slip rear differential.

Given that it is based on a shortened wheelbase of the MC Stradale, the Alfieri, in all probability, could pave way for Maserati’s new entry-level sports car.
