Maruti Suzuki to shut its six plants

Maruti Suzuki has shut down six of its plants located across Manesar and Gurgaon from June 22 to 29. This week- long shutdown is a part of the scheduled bi-annual closure for the summer season. This shutdown will also help company to adjust is stock and inventory in the slow moving car industry.

The company produces 5,000 cars each day and the shutdown is a part of the regular exercise to maintain its production lines and machines across its multiple factories. Maruti Suzuki that has a production capacity of 15 lakh cars a year, managed to sell 1.69 lakh units in the first two months of the current financial year.

Plant shutdowns are a routine exercise performed by Indian automobile manufacturers. It helps them re-align their manufacturing strategy. Maruti Suzuki is not the only one to shut its facilities. Other manufacturers like Tata Motors and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India have observed plant shutdowns this month.
