Maruti Suzuki had showcased the Baleno RS at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. The carmaker has jacked up the looks of the Baleno in the RS variant to give it a sport avatar. It is a performance version powered by the much awaited 1.0-litre BoosterJet direct injection turbo petrol engine. It is currently on sale in Suzuki cars internationally and will make it to the Indian market in the coming month. It comes with Direct-Injection Turbo, which enables the three-pot unit to churn out 112bhp of power and 175Nm of peak torque.
There are very few 100+ bhp hatchbacks in India like the Fiat Abarth Punto, Volkswagen Polo GT and the Ford Figo 1.5. The Baleno RS will join this club when it goes on sale next month. It will be offered only with the top-of-the-line Alpha variant. More details and prices will be revealed on March 3 in Delhi.
