- Diesel accounts for 75 per cent of bookings
- Waiting period stretches from 17 to 52 weeks
Mahindra introduced the XUV 7XO, the facelifted version of the XUV 700, last month with prices starting at Rs. 13.66 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV, along with the all-electric XEV 9S, has together garnered over 93,000 bookings, indicating strong initial response. A closer look at the data now highlights which versions are seeing the highest buyer preference.

Among powertrains, diesel variants have clearly taken the lead, contributing to 75 per cent of total demand, while petrol versions account for the remaining 25 per cent. This preference is also reflected in production figures, with Mahindra manufacturing 8,000 diesel units in January compared to 3,123 petrol units.
In terms of variants, the higher-spec AX7T and AX7L trims have emerged as the most popular choices. These are available with petrol automatic as well as diesel manual and automatic options, across both six and seven-seat configurations, giving buyers multiple combinations to choose from.

Despite the healthy demand, the exact split between bookings for the XUV 7XO and the XEV 9S has not been officially disclosed. Currently, waiting periods vary significantly based on the variant selected. The base AX trim commands the longest waiting time of up to 52 weeks. The AX7L sees a wait of 26 weeks for diesel and 17 weeks for petrol. Meanwhile, the AX3 and AX5 variants have an estimated timeline of 22 weeks each. The AX7T and petrol AX7 trims are expected within around four weeks, while the AX7 diesel requires up to six weeks.
The XUV 7XO is priced between Rs. 13.66 lakh and Rs. 24.92 lakh, ex-showroom, and continues to strengthen Mahindra’s position in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.
