
Mahindra’s XEV 9e has clinched the Green Car Award at ICOTY 2026, beating out a strong field of electric and eco-friendly contenders. In fact, the XEV topped the scoreboard with the highest overall evaluation, showcasing a compelling combination of range, technology, comfort, and value. In a closely fought competition, it emerged ahead of an eclectic mix of EVs from global and domestic automakers.
The list of contenders for the Green Car Award included the BMW iX1 LWB, BYD Sealion 7, Kia Carens Clavis EV, MG Cyberster, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Harrier EV and the Tesla Model Y.
As with previous editions, the Green Car of the Year category was adjudicated by a distinguished panel of automotive journalists and experts drawn from leading media houses and publications. For the 2026 award year, the ICOTY jury includes Vikrant Singh and Sagar Bhanushali from Carwale, Dhruv Behl and Ishan Raghava from autoX, Yogendra Pratap and Dipayan Dutta from Auto Today, Aspi Bhathena and Gaurav Davare from Car India, Sirish Chandran and Aatish Mishra from Evo India, Pablo Chaterji and Kartik Ware from Motoring World, Rohit Paradkar and Kranti Sambhav from Overdrive, Arpit Mahendra from TOI Auto, Tushar Kamath from Cardekho.com, Abhay Verma from Turbocharged, Bob Rupani, and Kushan Mitra from The Print.
