Mahindra TUV500 spied testing

The Mahindra TUV500 has been spotted testing in Chennai. An extended version of the TUV300, the TUV500 is also a seven-seater UV, albeit with third-row seats in place of the host’s jump seats.

The TUV500 is based on the same ladder frame chassis as the TUV300 and the Scorpio. It even looks identical to its sub-four-metre sibling right up to the C-pillar. However past the C pillar, the TUV500 gets an extended tail section to accommodate the third row. The tail lamp design looks similar to the Scorpio, although this might just be a stop gap measure for the prototype. The spare wheel is mounted on the tail gate.

The TUV500 will be powered by a 2.0-litre mHawk diesel engine from the XUV500 and Scorpio, delivering 140bhp and 320Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. We can expect it to be revealed during the 2018 Auto Expo. It will be positioned above the upcoming Mahindra U321 as a rival to the Tata Hexa and the Renault Lodgy.
